"Legends of the Fall I’ve watched a million times. That’s such a beautiful story, and such a real one and a sad one, about the unexpected things life brings, like certain relationships. And sometimes, a lot of the time, life doesn’t end in happy endings. The first time I saw it, I was so young that it was just a beautiful film to me. Obviously, the role of Tristan, the role he plays, is so appealing, and that want and need to tame the wild beast, if you will."

The Perpetual Motion Machine - The Story of an Invention

"This is a curious little book I picked up while I was working at the Neuegalerie in New York, a very formative period in my life. It was published in the early 1900s, and chronicles the author’s attempt at making a perpetual motion machine. Part musings, part diary entries, it’s a trial and error novella about the author attempting to devise a perpetual motion machine and how that obsession illuminates the problems in his real life. It’s a story that’s riddled with failure, but stubbornly optimistic in a way I can relate to."

If you've never heard of Emma Koehler, then you know nothing about the beer industry in San Antonio Texas. But even if that subject matter doesn't interest you, Emma should, because she had both a fascinating and tragic life. Camille Di Maio does a lovely job of taking little to no information about this real-life personality and turning it into a biographical, historical, women's fiction novel. I thought maybe loving “Now that you mention it” so much would be a fluke I am happy to say nope not the case. I loved this book just as much. It is amazing how well Kristan transforms a scene into a real life moment. There were multiple times in each of her books where I wondered if she had some how implanted a camera in my house to record my life. I am well into my 3rd Kristan Higgins book, binge bought and borrowed from my library to keep on going. How have I survived without KH in my life???

Great book about sisters, family dynamics and how we (and circumstances) screw it all up constantly.
