This review is really hard to write mainly because I did not have any feelings about this book after I read it. It was a quick read, only taking me two hours; yet it was hard to stay focused. I felt so unmotivated to read this book, which I sometimes had to force myself to keep going.

I am not saying it is a bad book. In fact, I think quite the opposite. While it was not anything to heavy or thought provoking, Brewer did a good job at creating a practical storyline with realistic characters and an in-depth vampire society I felt that she teased us with all the glimpses into the vampire society. It was obvious this novel was the first in the series. We are introduced to Vlad and the people important to the storyline. I wish she had shown us more because I am not interested in reading the rest of the series to find out.

The only thing that truly annoyed me, however, was Brewer’s lack of subtly. She brings up subjects that are supposed to be revealed later in novel/series, but she makes it so obvious that you are supposed to be interested.

Like most teens in Luna Vista, Sophie Young and Grace Yang are working on the floats for the upcoming Winter Sun Festival. This is the 125th anniversary of the parade, and the town wants to make an especially good impression. Sadly, the work is interrupted one day when the festival president is found dead on one of the floats. Certain it wasn’t the accident the police think it is, Sophie and Grace begin to investigate. But when their pool of suspects could also be the next victim, can they solve the crime?

I really enjoyed the first book starring these two thirteen-year-olds, and I enjoyed this one just as much. They are realistic characters who just happen to solve crime. There is a large cast of other characters, but I was soon able to keep them all straight thanks to their distinct personalities. The clues were buried under red herrings, but as the solution came to light, it all made perfect sense. Definitely recommended for middle grade readers or anyone who loves a good mystery.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Kamal Angelo Bolden as Vince (1 more)
Becky and Hannah relationship
Great fun movie but not always realistic (0 more)
Next cult horror
Honestly I went in with low expectations of this film however I was pleastly surprised by it.

This film has all the making of possible cult status whilst it not the edgest film and like most horror there are part that just aren't believable. This film had a fun factor that kept you engage and wanting to watch till the end.

Personally my favourite charcter from the film was Vince placed by Kamal Angelo Bolden. I got to watch this film at fright fest and so the cast was present to introduce the film. From Kamal introduction to seeing him on screen you could see he had one of the most charamatic personalities I've ever seen both on screen and introducing the film. Kamal charcter Vince is a drug dealer and when mist the ravers transform Vince personality stay true throughout the film this makes him engaging to watch.

Georgia Hirst plays Becky and the lead of the film it an interesting charcter as someone who at the start exhibits all the signs of somone who has OCD suddenly cope in a situation that goes from normal rave to horror flick.

A live action adaptation for a modern day audience. (0 more)
Felt empty to fans of the original Disney classic (imo) (0 more)
Disney+ (Ha, get it)
Although this contains spoilers, its doesn't differ much from the original plot (like at all).

In a tradition that we have now become accustomed to when it comes to disney, this live action adaptation seemingly fails to hit home like the original animated classic.

Parts of the songs were missing, beyonce as nala felt empty in some parts.

This movie sticks to the original story & some great voice overs in most cases.

Although it's something I'd happily watch again, I'd rather wait 20 mins for my vhs tape to rewind and sit through the trailers (and that's after I've gone through the trouble of setting up my vcr) and watch the animated version.

I know that a live action adaptation is suppose to go for the realistic look, but would it really be that bad to have made the characters look exactly like their animated counterparts?? Make the bird blue, give scar a black mane etc.

Absolutely loved the timon and pumba scenes. (Definitely wanna see a live action lion king 3: Hakuna Mutata and maybe Robin hood (fox version lol) )

Overall a 7/10 (ish)
