I loved the structure of the book itself. It was made to look like a continuous piece of paper, much like a timeline to which someone's life may be measured against. I thought it was really cool the way Carson would pull in the definitions of the words in Latin only to reveal about half way or three quarters of the way through that is was because she was translating an old poem that had originally been written in Latin. That gave it the sense that everything was pulled together.
One thing I enjoyed about this poem was how different it was from other elegies I have had to read over the course of this quarter. Instead of only lauding the deceased, Carson makes them realistic. She does not make them out to be some saint-like, or even god-like creature that had done no wrong. In giving them flaws and pointing those flaws out, the poem itself becomes more realistic and approachable.
I loved how it looked like everything was just scanned in, as well. It gave an informal quality to the poem that, again, makes it accessible to wider audiences than the more traditional elegies might.
Overall, this was a pretty cool poem! I suggest you pick it up if you want to read something different.

Can we talk about this cover?! Like for real, this is the coolest cover ever! The storyline was great, some of the characters could have used a bit more background, some of the places could have been developed more. But all around, this was a great read and I look forward to seeing Nikhail and Rahual's story continue.
I was honestly surprised how well this novel kept my attention. I was so worried that with the style and plotline being of a different culture and more realistic, that it would draw my attention elsewhere. But it didn't. My full attention was on this novel. The whole structure of this novel is phenomenal!
Insights: It would have been nice to have a key that helped the reader to understand how to pronounce certain names of people, things, and places. But other than that, this was one rollercoaster of a book. (And I mean that in a good way!) I couldn't put this down, at all. The author sure has a way with words and taking a culture that is realistic, and adding fantasy aspects to it - that takes skill.

This book follows the cat Nana and his owner Satoru throughout their lives. The simplistic narrative just adds to the story. Nana is able to capture the moment without bogging it down with complexity. Each chapter brings new characters into the story that reminded me of my childhood. They were relatable and realistic. It's always refreshing to read realistic characters which is why this book resounded with me.
What I loved the most about this book is the simplistic nature. It reminded me of the simplicity of Parnassus on Wheels. It was beautiful in its simplicity. Even with the simplicity of the story, Hiro Arikawa was able to truly capture the moments in the stories and it made me feel for Satoru & Nana. I was an emotional wreck at moments. I was frustrated with Nana at times, heartbroken for him too. I am not ashamed to admit that I cried at moments. Honestly, if a book can evoke an emotional response in me, it means that the author did their job and did their job well.
If you're on the fence about this book, I highly suggest you read it.

The narrative of this novel sounds quite realistic, and I was engrossed in Jess’s journey and her struggles. I really liked that the plot was not just plodding along, telling the events of Jess’s daily life, but the author threw in some interesting turns and different perspectives to shed more light on all the events happening in the book. It allowed to know more about Jenny’s friends and how they feel in different situations. The topics discussed in this book were love, friendships, hard work, heartbreak, dreams, self-growth, etc.
I really liked the writing style of this novel, it would feel like chick lit story sometimes, but the author incorporated her little analyses of different life topics, that made the whole book richer and more sophisticated. The chapters felt quite long at times, but the story itself didn’t leave me bored. I really liked the ending of this book, it was unexpected but rounded up this story very nicely.
So, to conclude, this was a very refreshing and indulgent book, filled with realistic, believable characters and difficult life choices, perfect for everyone who suffers after a breakup or anyone who struggles to accomplish their goals.

It looks great, although trees are a little flat and lighting can be harsh on some stages. The cars and scenery look great. The sounds of the engines are loud and realistic.
This is a very realistic simulation giving you control over many aspects in career mode. The main problem is that it's very difficult and unforgiving even if you are used to more serious driving games. The tracks are very narrow, the slightest rock or tap of the brake can often spin you off course. The cars handle like a brick and don't seem to drift around bends as you would hope. Before you know it the steering and transmission are damaged making it handle even worse!
The co-driver tends to shout out the next 3 bends at one go which makes it difficult keeping track which direction the next bend is. There's no mini map anywhere to give a clue either, leading you to look at the signs at the top of the screen to keep track. It makes it very difficult to get a decent time.
It's a shame but the handling of the cars along with the difficulty of the tracks and just trying to navigate the stages will leave you frustrated. You'll be going back to Forza or something else pretty quick. One for hardcore fans only.
