A classic
I still love this story after countless readings and about as many reboots. Few are unfamiliar with the story, which lends itself well to contemporary retellings. But I enjoy revisiting the original now and then. It's a very quick read, and one of my favorite ghost stories and tales of redemption. If Scrooge can change, who can't?

I'm Chucky, wanna play?
A different kind of Slasher icon in a possessed doll on a killing spree so he can take human form again. Very tongue in cheek with a lot of humour and sarcasm. Plenty of quotes still stand out from the film. It's probably the best of the series including the many sequels and reboots.

Not The Bad
This Remake/Reboot of Planet of the Apes isnt that bad. The action is good, the acting is good, the sci-fi is good. Its that ending that made no sense. Im not sure why people didnt like this film, that its one of the worst remake's/reboots of all time. Its not their are others remakes/reboots that are worst than this.
The plot: Astronaut Leo Davidson whips through space and time to a world where apes and gorillas rule the humans. Captured, he is nurtured by Ari and hunted by General Thade as he leads a rebel group of humans and chimpanzees in search of his downed craft. This is his only hope of escape and, ironically, the planet's only hope of shaking off the tyranny of the gorillas, allowing peaceful humans and chimpanzees to co-exist.
I think its a good film.

Apes Together Strong
This was one of my most anticipated movies of this year and it was great. It wasn't as good as Dawn, but it still delivered a satisfying conclusion to a fantastic rebooted trilogy.
The performances are great, the CGI is mind-blowingly realistic and Matt Reeves direction is brilliant.
For my money, these 3 movies are the best reboots ever made.

Not the Jumanji of My Younger Years
I typically don't like "reboots" because most of the time it seems to mean "remake". However, Jumanji is a true reboot. It took the basic premise of the original and completely updated the concept for today's audience. I was super excited to see it as I'm a fan of everyone in the cast and they did not disappoint. Their chemistry was amazing their characters kicked ass and were hilarious.

It is fun (2 more)
The cast gets their characters so very right, especially Karl Urban as bones
Michael Giacchino delivers a good score
I just don't like the aesthetic of the reboots. It doesn't look like Star Trek to me and the new Enterprise is honestly kind of ugly (3 more)
The plot is very contrived
Shaky cam
Not much going on thematically, mostly feels like a dumb actioner
Torn on this as a lifelong Trekkie
I can certainly understand why people enjoy this, but it just doesn't feel like Trek to me. Still it is enjoyable in its own way.

What happened?
I understand that these are 'basically' reboots of the first films, so in the first movie I really enjoyed the little homages to the original Jurassic Park. But this one felt like nothing but sad grabs at past glory.
I mean, there's only so many times a dinosaur can roar against a dramatic background before you start yawning, you know?
And as for the acting - Chris Pratt, as usual, was good. But the rest? Meh. No one stood out.
Even my mom, who is a diehard Jurassic Park fan, commented that she had no desire to see the third movie at all.
