Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2398 KP) rated Mr. Monk and the Dirty Cop (Mr. Monk, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Monk is downsized when the SFPD is forced to cut their budget. But he lands on his feet at a private firm that is more than willing to pay him and Natalie handsomely. Will Monk still be able to solve a string of murders in the city? As always, Natalie and Monk's relationship is so rich in this book. The characters are great, the plot is strong, and the laughs are plentiful.

Lindsay (1774 KP) rated Eventide (The Days of Redemption #3) in Books

I love this book. Though it the third book in the series. I would love to read book 1 and two. This book deals with someone who struggling to deal with herself and her Illness a bit and building a relationship. This book does go into several thing about dealing the illness and how to over come it and several different issues. I really do believe the author did a great job. I will let you decide it you ever want to read it and come away with your own thoughts on it.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Fifty Shades Darker (2017) in Movies
Feb 15, 2018 (Updated Feb 15, 2018)
A Crime Against Passion
Another attempt by E.L. James to solve the global overpopulation crisis by putting people off the idea of having sex. More deeply uninvolving shenanigans between Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey: will he win her back? Will she be able to make him commit to a proper relationship? And why the hell should anyone else care?
Very little discernible plot; mostly resembles a blandly aspirational soap opera, or possibly commercial for kitchen design. Scenes of rumpo are occasionally unintentionally funny, never actually erotic. Fifty Shades Darker? Fifty Shades Duller, more like.

This is the sequel to Me Before You. It picks up roughly 6 months after the book ends. Louisa had been traveling and returned to London. She is working in an airport bar pretty much hating the job. She meets Sam, an ambulance worker at the same time that someone from Will's past comes into her life. The book goes through Lou and the tentative beginnings of a relationship with Sam, dealing with some unexpected family issues in addition to this person from Will's past and all the feelings that dredges up. Very well written.

Roxanne (13 KP) rated Once Upon a New Year's Eve in Books

A nice, quick and enjoyable read. I should say that I shouldn't really class this short story as a 'romance' as it is more of a dose of 'smut'...but good smut I might add.
It outlines the bully/victim relationship with a splash of attraction and lust leaving the reader wanting more. In my personal opinion I can not stand bullies and people who abuse others so it makes me cringe a bit when these people are so easily forgiven. Even so I would definitely consider reading the possible sequel.

Irene M (130 KP) rated And I Thought Divorce Was Bad: With Other Life Lessons in Books

I received this book for free for an honest review.
A collection of poetry, words of wisdom and short stories, all surrounding the subject of a relationship gone wrong, and through the healing process. After a short prologue poem the first item of prose is called “A Shiner” … a hard hitter in more way that one.
There was one or two small grammatical things I saw, but that's just me being a bit picky as it was not enough to take away from the heart-string pulling writing.
Well worth a read

The most amazing Mostly historically accurate TV show I’ve ever seen.
I love reading about Queen Victoria as her relationship with her husband Albert is a truly beautiful and tragic love story. The casting is so perfect for Albert & I think Jenna Coleman makes for a beautiful Victoria. It is quite accurate to what I have previously read about Victoria and Albert and the clothing is so beautiful.
It is truly so well done & I highly recommend this TV show to anyone interested in history, Queen Victoria or just the royal family in general
