Tom Turner (388 KP) rated A Darker Shade of Magic in Books
Apr 29, 2021
As has been said by numerous other reviewers I am sure, the world building in this book is exquisite! I don't think I've seen the multiple world's idea done quite as well as I have here. It's certainly the most thought out and crafted, and would be hard to beat.
Both the main characters were will defined and their relationship is one I could definitely believe.
The one draw back is the plot reliance on the mcguffin. By the end it definitely had a feel of the Ring from Lord of the Rings, and ultimately I felt it was this that held the book back from being really great.
I look forward to continuing in this world with this charactera in the future.

I went into Regretting You blind, as I do with most of Colleen's books - I definitely don't regret it. While I confess to being super nosy and curious about the letters and what questions they could have answered, I have read Colleen's explanation, I can say I respect her reasoning. I also want to say that I loved how she explored the relationship between mother and daughter, I don't think that's a typical topic. I loved Jonah and Miller, they were both so great in their own ways! I was afraid of this book being a cliché, but Colleen is too good at her job, because none of it felt like any other storyline I've ever read. What a great way to start out 2020!
Karin broke my heart with this one. From beginning to end, so many questions about Will, his past, his parents, were finally answered. We learn a little more about Amanda, from back in the '70s. We're taken through the events that led up to Will's birth and his mother's demise. By the end, I was fighting tears. Criminal is, without a doubt, the most emotional Will Trent book I've read thus far. Now that the past has been settled, it's time to focus on the present: Is Will going to nurture his new relationship with Sara or will Angie's latest act bring him back to her? This is one love triangle I honestly can't wait to end, but I'm still excited to see what happens next.

I was drawn into this rather quickly. I had no idea what was going to happen in this, only that something life-changing happens. This is my first book with a tornado in it and the after effects are quite damaging to this little town
That first interaction we see between West and Jules, you can see that there is a connection there, but since Jules is already with someone else I was interested to see how everything would play out between them.
It wasn't a very long book but it all plays out at a nice pace and I liked how their relationship evolved. I know it's in three parts and I'm interested in continuing the series at some point.

Jacob Wilding (39 KP) rated V-Wars - Season 1 in TV
May 13, 2020 (Updated May 13, 2020)
I started this show thinking that I'd finally found a new show I could get into. I watched about 2 maybe 3 episodes (it's been a while) and it was painful to watch. Now of course many shows have that couple episode area where you need to push through and then it starts getting better. This show didn't have it.
The relationship between the main protagonist and his wife feels fake. He seems to care little to none about his son and overall the actor's performance gives the feel that he was given a script that just doesn't work.
Some of the settings also feel like they were slapped together last minute.
