I can’t help but think that she’s not happy in her job or her relationship, and her cancer diagnosis is pushing these matters to the front of her mind.
There’s a lot of racism in this novel, and the effects of that on the main characters psyche. To be constantly thought of as “less than” must be frustrating, depressing and maddening.
I’ll be very interested to read what comes next from Natasha Brown.

Whilst surprised to see you, they none-the-less invite you in and introduce you to their friends (new to you).
Then your own relatives, who only have a passing relationship with your mate, start showing up uninvited as well; start being pass-remarkable, making demands and throwing their weight around.
That's pretty much the situation facing Admiral 'Black Jack' Geary, out beyond the frontiers of human space, in this the latest novel in the long-running 'Lost Fleet' series, with - as it turns out - experimental (and dangerous) jump space technology leaked to those left behind after he started his journey - technology that makes everything, in the words of one character 'more so'.
The result is another enjoyable read in the series, with plenty of plot threads left hanging for the inevitable sequel.

If I Can’t Have You
By Charlotte Levin
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
After fleeing Manchester for London, Constance Little attempts to put past tragedies behind her and make a fresh start. When she embarks on a relationship with the new doctor at the medical practice where she works, she’s convinced she’s finally found the love and security she craves.
Then he ends it.
But if life has taught her anything, it’s that if you love someone, you should never let them go.
That's why for Constance Little, her obsession is only just beginning . . .
This was a really really good read. I mean from that first chapter you are hooked and need to know how she ended up in the situation, you will not be disappointed! This is a tragic story of loss and obsession it leaves you feeling uneasy and unsure of who to feel bad for. Really good read.
