Ashley has lived her life as a freak, seeing a person's death in their eyes, and decides to move to Alaska and live in solitude. Eli is a hunter angel and is very concerned about where the angels are going under the guidance of the Seven. Angels and mates are disappearing, falling into darkness, and no one seems to care. When he is judged by them to find his humanity to be sent to hell for eternity, he ends up in Alaska and helps to rescue Ashley from the hellhounds attacking her.
As this story moves along, we find out more about the darkness, what is causing it, what happens to the mates, and how deep it has sunk its claws into the angels. We also learn just how far Ashley will go to save Eli. This is the first book in a series that shows incredible promise. I loved the story of Ashley and Eli, even though it was full of insta-love, it was done in such a way as to be believable. Both Ashley and Eli admit to things moving fast between them, but once they make the decision to be together, they are all in.
Well written and smoothly paced, with no grammatical errors that I found, this was a delight to read and I look forward to reading further into the series.

As this story moves along, we find out more about the darkness, what is causing it, what happens to the mates, and how deep it has sunk its claws into the angels. We also learn just how far Ashley will go to save Eli. This is the first book in a series that shows incredible promise. I loved the story of Ashley and Eli, even though it was full of insta-love, it was done in such a way as to be believable. Both Ashley and Eli admit to things moving fast between them, but once they make the decision to be together, they are all in.
Well written and smoothly paced, with no grammatical errors that I found, this was a delight to read and I look forward to reading further into the series.

SONATA is Viola's book. Well, hers and Lucien's. And if you liked Mr Grumpy-Pants in Melody's book, then you are going to love him in this! We begin with Lucien trying to rescue Viola, but being as she thinks she's going insane, it's not that easy. Rest assured, there is plenty of action and humour in the mix, as Lucien and Viola become mates.
I am loving this series. It really is that simple. The idea of the Muses being mated to vampire brothers gives me so much to look forward to. You know how greedy I am, I want all the details. And, lucky me, I think I'm going to get them. Not all in one go, of course, because there's no way Ms Daniels would be that kind to me. Instead, she'll eek them out, leaving me turning the pages as I continue the story. I guess that makes her a pretty good author, eh? š
I thoroughly enjoyed Melody's story, and I have loved this one. But the next one - Moƫl and Harmony? Oh my, I really can't wait for that one.
Back to this one - well written with a smooth pace, hot and steamy where it should be, with plenty of action and humour. All in all, a perfect read, and thereby absolutely recommended by me!

I am loving this series. It really is that simple. The idea of the Muses being mated to vampire brothers gives me so much to look forward to. You know how greedy I am, I want all the details. Life Finds A Way
After really enjoying Jurassic World back in 2015, I was excited when they announced that a sequel was in the works. I felt optimistic about it because the ending of Jurassic World left it wide open for a story continuation, and I didnāt feel like they were just making a new one to milk a franchise. Itās no surprise that I can be hugely critical of sequels, but I was willing to give this one a fighting chance.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set three years after the destruction of the Jurassic World park, and characters are faced with the dilemma of what to do now a volcano on the island is beginning to erupt. Itās a huge moral dilemma: let the dinosaurs die again, or move them to a safe location where they can thrive. Ultimately, Claire and Owen end up back on Isla Nublar with the help of a rescue team to round up the dinosaurs. As you can expect, things donāt go according to plan and we soon realise the rescue team has other, darker intentions.
Whilst this film is not the strongest in the franchise, itās still an enjoyable watch. I wasnāt expecting it to be as thought provoking as it was, which was a pleasant surprise. I felt like the storyline had a lot of depth to it, and a lot of emotional moments too. One thing I really love about the Jurassic franchise is how they make you connect and feel emotions towards CGI dinosaurs. You know they arenāt real, yet you get so invested in the narrative that you quickly forget. In Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom we see some familiar dinosaurs from the previous films, as well as some new ones too. In classic Jurassic nature, we also see a brand new dinosaur that humans thought was a good idea to createā¦ for some reason.
Another thing that surprised me was the horror-like elements that were present in the film. Without giving too much away, thereās a couple of scenes that are very reminiscent of classic horror and plummets the film into a much darker, creepier atmosphere. These scenes were incredibly well done and didnāt feel out of place, even though they couldāve easily felt too jarring. It was fun to witness the franchise experimenting with this, and enhances the scary side of the dinosaurs. Thereās some really impressive shots during these scenes too, that emphasises the imposing nature of these creatures.
My biggest criticism of this film is that I felt like too much was going on, and consequently the narrative felt rushed. Despite it running at just over 2 hours, I almost felt like we needed another half hour to properly tell the story without glossing over some really important plot points. The main narrative was paced okay but then we had random side storylines that seemed unnecessary and just left me confused more than anything. Itās a shame they tried to cram so much into such a short space of time as there was no need to do that.
Long time fans of Jurassic Park should definitely give this a go as I think itās a solid entry into the franchise, though it doesnāt do enough to ascend above its predecessors. Itās what Iāve described as a āfun, Monday night filmā to people whoāve asked, so if youāre looking for a visually impressive blockbuster with loud roars and some creepy elements, this film is perfect for you.

The Finest Hours tells the story of four men who, in February of 1952, undertook one of the most daring rescue attempts in the history of the Unites States Coast Guard. A tanker, the SS Pendleton, is caught in a storm off the coast of New England and is ripped in half, leaving more than 30 sailors adrift and sinking. While Bernard Webber (Chris Pine) leads an impossible rescue in a lifeboat designed to hold only 12, his fiancƩe, Miriam (Holliday Grainger), struggles to come to terms with what it means to be the wife of a man who has to willingly risk his life for others.
Year after year, it proves out. January is just not a good month for cinema. With one hand, the studios campaign for award season glory and with the other, dump their trash. Thatās not to say The Finest Hours is total garbage. Even Iām not that cynical to unconditionally condemn something that shines a light on the triumph of the human spirit when faced with insurmountable odds. Itās just that there is only about one-third of a good film here. Anytime the crew of the Pendelton was onscreen, I was captivated. Their struggle for survival and their feats of engineering under incredible pressure make for riveting entertainment and should have been a film unto itself. These scenes unfortunately are interspaced with and, more often than not, forced to take a back seat to paint-by-numbers dialogue, two-dimensional caricatures (both disappointing when you consider the three writers on this film were behind The Fighter) and a shockingly abrasive score during the main U.S. Coast Guard narrative. And yes, it may be called The Finest Hours, but if thatās the title theyāre going with a little more effort should have been put into the rescuers, as opposed to those being rescued. Overall, weāre deprived of a sense of urgency, in what is supposed to be a race against time, and an intimacy with any character performed well enough to be worth caring about.
At least this isnāt a complete waste of an all-star cast. Iāll ease off on Chris Pine, tempted as I might be to pick on him. After having fumbled his way through both Captain Kirk and Jack Ryan, doing so now in a flick produced by Disney would feel rather like a cheap shot. Instead itās fairer to write off the other, usually more dependable leads and praise Casey Affleck, who alone makes The Finest Hours watchable. Ironically, he plays the man who has to keep not only half a ship afloat, but an entire crew together. Between Eric Banaās overstatement, Ben Fosterās understatement, and a questionable casting choice in Holliday Grainger, Affleck is heads above the rest when it comes to making courage and sentiment ring true.
A regrettable execution notwithstanding, better can and should have been done to honor these distinguished service members and viewers looking for a storytelling standard above the level of your average Hallmark original are advised to look elsewhere. Try, for instance, Oliver Stoneās (not as controversial as we all thought it was going to be) World Trade Center for a better example of how these tales of perseverance and survival are supposed to be done.
