Heather Cranmer (2721 KP) rated Max Attacks in Books
Jun 7, 2019
The plot for Max...Attacks if very simplistic yet fun. It's an easy plot to understand for young children. Max is a cat how likes playing (attacking) everything in sight! It's basically just a day in a life of a cat that children (and adults) will definitely enjoy with plenty of humorous moments!
The rhyming in Max...Attacks is done superbly and in such a fun way that makes it easy to read and understand. My 4 year old loved the rhyming throughout this book as did I. The easy language and rhyming help this book to flow smoothly. Sentence structure is fantastic.
The titular character of Max is one that children (and adults) will fall in love with. He's easy to love, and he's funny without even trying to be. My son and I laughed over and over at Max's attacking adventures! We also the dog and even the goldfish in the book. Okay, we loved every character. It was hard not to. I believe Kathi Appelt captured a day in the life of a cat perfectly!
The illustrations for Max...Attacks were done beautifully yet simplistically. Penelope Dullaghan, the illustrator for this book, did an amazing job with the illustrations. They are vibrant, very colorful, and extremely fun to look at. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that the illustrations really helped to make Max...Attacks as great and as enjoyable as it is. The attention to detail in these illustrations is also spot on. Seriously, these illustrations are some of the cutest and most fun that I've seen in a children's picture book in awhile. If you're looking for a book that will hold even the most inattentive child's attention, Max...Attacks is the book you need!
All in all, Max...Attacks is an incredibly fun children's book to read as well as to look at. The amazing illustrations as well as the entertaining story will definitely thrill children and adults alike. I would definitely recommend Max...Attacks by Kathi Appelt to everyone no matter their age. If you are looking for books for a specific age group, I think this would appeal to children between the ages of 3 - 6 the most. Max...Attacks gets a solid 5 out of 5 stars from me and my son.

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated The Big Flood: The Story of Noah and the Ark in Books
Jun 18, 2018
The story teaches young kids about the unshakeable faith that Noah portrays when God asks him to build an ark and then take care of all the animals on board. He alerts Noah to the fact that He is sending a huge rainstorm that will result in the flooding of the entire earth and He warns Noah that all the non-believers will perish if they refuse to come onto the ark which will be a safe haven for them.

It was weird, random, hilarious and I honestly could not fault the rhyming; that is some skill!
If I was really hunting for anything negative I would say that it could do with a bit more editing as I did notice a few mistakes, not enough to knock off any points though.
If you would like something random to read I would recommend picking this one up as it is a short, easy to read book that once you start you just have to finish it.

Lindsay (1717 KP) rated The Goose on the Roof in Books
Oct 4, 2020
The pictures are done well as well. I enjoyed the pictures and was laughing. Have you ever try talking to animals and as they try and help and not helping. You will be laughing at the antics. Will the little girl get help and be able to solve the problem? Why is the goose on the roof?
Children will learn rhyming and some other problem solving and how to ask for help. This is done well and is enjoyable. Children can look at pictures and enjoy it that way. Good for bedtime or any cuddle time with children. Good for children ages 3 through 7.
Lindsay (1717 KP) rated Animals at the Office in Books
Oct 6, 2020
Children should not have to fit into to make friends or be part of a group. You should be able to be yourself and still know your values. This book shows that throughout. The pictures even show the emotions and actions of trying to be someone else.
There is rhyming and the learning of that is nice. I was smiling as I was reading this book. It teaches and gives a valuable lesson throughout. The book is colorful and done well. It a joy to read and see the pictures. In time as today, these books are sometimes forgotten that have value and lessons for children who need to learn.
