Gossip girl but in the Hamptons and the girl is the neice of the housekeeper.
I thought this would have more romance but mostly it is teenage angst, stuck up rich people, and two girls who become friends after some pretty weird stuff happens. It was a short read that was perfect for just having around but honestly I don't think I would pick it up ever again.

Greg Rich finds himself sucked back through time to early 1600's Paris where he must unite teenage musketeers to save his parents. A kids book that combines elements of fantasy with historical fiction, I enjoyed it, although I did find the set up a bit too long.

Patrick Melrose
2018 | Drama
An adaptation of the novels of Edward St Aubyn. Patrick Melrose comes from a rich family but after suffering abuse from his father he is reliant on drugs and alcohol which effects his relationships with others. Benedict Cumberbatch acts his socks off and is brilliant, the support actors are brilliant too. There is a bit of toing and froing between past and present so you do need to concentrate!

The Wedding of Popeye and Olive had all of the main characters in it, plus a rich ex of Olive's that wanted to steal her away. She was kidnapped, and Bluto tried to get her back at the same time as Popeye. The story was short, cute, and stayed true to the Popeye characters. However, the illustrations were more modernized. I wasn't a huge fan of that change.

Songs that stick with you and have you humming them for days (3 more)
Humour, some awesome one liners
Emotional depth and even some good role modelling for men showing emotion
Loveable characterisation
Some cliches/predictability but at bearable levels (0 more)
Funny and deeply emotional
A very worthy sequel, which is difficult when the first was such a big hit. Had some darker moments than the first but so emotionally rich and visually beautiful.

Fanny and Alexander (1982)
Fanny and Alexander (1982)
1982 | Drama, International

"Existential angst, black-and-white landscapes that feel cut out of slate and bone, quivering ruminations on mortality, and symbolic self-reflexive experimentation in film form-that’s all very masterful and inspiring and well and good, but I didn’t fall in love with Bergman until I discovered (via this box set) Fanny and Alexander. A rich adult fairy tale about how we use storytelling in our lives, not for pleasure alone."

"So many important life-lessons to be learned here: How to triumph, despite being a working class girl; how to hold on to your sense of self; how, if you fancy a handsome rich man - way above your social strata who’s already married, if you wait a while, his castle might burn down, killing his wife and making him blind, and then you can have him, having played the long game."

The Exorcist (1973)
The Exorcist (1973)

"The William Friedkin film. I thought that was very smart. I thought the priests were as terrifying in that, and all the religious symbolism, and all of the dogma of the Catholic Church that was involved in that. It’s pretty rich stuff. The performances were very, very powerful in that film. Some of the special effects also that they did with the child in the bed were just so freaky."

Dreamland captures what it was like to be in the Guilded Age but not rich. He weaves the chracters within the setting of New York City and Coney Island just as a master would weave a tapestry. The combination of shirtwaist workers, gamblers, and gangsters makes this an enjoyable read. It can get a bit confusing but if you know anything about New York at this time life was always a bit confusing and harried.

Not going to write a big review on this. Another WMC book that did not disappoint. The main focus in this book is Yuki trying on a new job and her case is connected to Lindsay's case about alleged cops robbing dope houses and check cashing stores. Cyndi has wrote a book and went on a small book tour, and she and Rich are back together.

I'm sure there is going to be a 15....
