Watched for a Friday the 13th ripoff it wasn't up to the standards of slasher movies and I've seen lots especially from the 80s and this one just didn't do it for me from the cast yes that's daryl hannah who basically doesn't do much till near the end of the movie when she's attacked by the psycho not one of my favourite slashers

Seen this too many times
I used to watch this movie a lot when I was in middle school.
Kind of a Star Wars/Logan's Run ripoff where an enslaved civilization lives underground doing the bidding of the evil Zygon never questioning if there is a world above or where they fit in the universe. The discovery of a mysterious sword hilt send Orin on an outer space adventure he would never forget.
It was always funny hearing animated characters says "damn" and "shit" when I was younger. Not a big deal now.
Originally released in 3D, you can tell when you watch, but it is still an entertaining animated thrill ride adventure.

Chloe (514 KP) rated The Dark Prophecy (The Trials of Apollo #2) in Books

Does the spin of beat the original?
This book is a spin of of the Percy Jackson series.
What makes this book not a ripoff of Percy Jackson is that it's so completely different mainly thanks to our narrator Apollo. Apollo's cooky sense of humour will have you laughing all day.
somehow even though the theme of the book is the same throughout with a pattern of battle and miraculous save, battle and miraculous save, battle... The twists and turns just constantly keep you guessing.
This is a book during which I just could not keep still it really grabs you and pulls you in to the point where I found myself crying over the book (although maybe I'm just to emotional). I just felt hugely attached to the characters. It is honestly amazing how the author made a god so relatable.

LoganCrews (2861 KP) rated Ninja Assassin (2009) in Movies

Slept on. A breathless, blood-soaked rager where shurikens get thrown like machine gun bullets and manifold enemies get shredded into human ballistic gel. Totally cockamamie lore put to the backdrop of CGI blade-chains and club music, ancient ninja cults just hanging out and making human sacrifices on rainy city rooftops and shit lmao. Nothing more than an excuse to rip apart a bunch of ninjas, gangsters, and government officials for 99 minutes - a decapitated head ends up in a washing machine at one point - but who wouldn't want to see that? I'll take the opposite opinion of the general consensus and totally gush about the style, I'm all for modernizing cheesy early-mid-2000s duels where we just started to really learn what mainstream stylized action was and went overboard with it. Also has an acute emphasis on physicality and production rather than leaving everything important up to the editing department - has a realized sense of framing and uses CGI as an enhancer rather than the full package. Lovingly embraces martial arts story tropes without undermining their importance, which many actioners would probably jettison out entirely. Feels much, much more like a successful and distinct love letter rather than a ripoff. Aesthetic as fuck, and Rain is godly in it.
The Marinated Meeple (1848 KP) rated Broom Service: The Card Game in Tabletop Games

This is a very simple game, very short, not much depth
There is a risk to being brave, if someone else is also brave with the same potion, you get nothing.... Without knowing the full game, this makes no sense whatsoever. The full game has light depth and interesting choices and planning, this game is really just a taking that small deduction part of the game of what people are holding and if you want to risk it.
To me this is like taking settlers of catan and just distilling it down to rolling the dice and collectiing resources, and at the end of the 4 rounds you get points for having the larger sets of brick than someone else. Without the map and building things there isn't strategy.
This game might be good for kids, but I think it send the wrong message, so I even discount that. This feels like a money grab trying to capitalize on the name of Broom Service, and making a small version that costs less. But you don't get the game, so therefore even less of a cost feels like a ripoff. I'm trying not to hold a grudge against this game, but I'm not happy with this as a game.
Do yourself the favor to pay the extra 10 dollars for the full version, and skip this.
