Utterly charmless and boring
This film may have been more engaging if they'd had the likes of Hugh Grant as the leading man. As it was, Crowe is charmless, unfunny and boring throughout. I really didn't care what happened to him, whether he found love with the hapless damsel who he runs off the road without even knowing or whether he could force himself to leave the chateau after falling back in love with the place. It took me days to watch the film as I was determined to get through it and each day I hoped it would get better. It didn't but eventually I finished it! Hallelujah it was over.

Grim , brutal and tasteless
I think the gratuitous and horrific descriptions of violence is insulting to those nations who were killed in the American genocide. It is bordering on tasteless and the entire book seems rather pointless being pummelled with endless ways of how to kill people in various brutal fashions. I understand McCarthy may be trying to portray how perpetual violence can desensitise people such as soldiers into doing things morally reprehensible but that was not obvious and it may have been more appropriate to use a fictional situation. The irony is you become desensitised reading it to the point my mind switched off. As a fan of The Road, I was disappointed by this.
Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated Revenge on Route 66: A Tracy Eaton Mystery in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Tracy is planning to introduce her husband Drew to the pleasures that are Route 66. But when a family friend is murdered in a small New Mexico town, they find themselves having to solve a mystery 30 years old to find out why he died now.
These books are always wacky capers, and this is no exception. The mystery is well plotted, but Tracy's antics are a blast the entire way through. A perfect light mystery for any road trip.
And keep an eye out for a character named Mark Baker.

so terrible its hilarious
Well what can I say? Netflix has just released a cartoon about Santa Klaus and that is more realistic and believable than this, a film so ridiculous I was laughing out loud all the way through. With moments like a car being attached to a helicopter and the helicopter is lifting up the car but they flip nitrous on and so the wheels start turning fast, gripping the road and thus stopping the helicopter pulling it. Erm, science?
Also the show has more holes than Swiss cheese.
My girlfriend loved it and thought it was a brilliant film.

This movie.... Was.... *sigh* such a letdown. I wanted to like this movie so much. Iron Ma-- I mean, Spider-man was pretty good in this film. But it felt like a teenage romcom/road-trip movie and a superhero movie thrown together. It was like eating my favorite appetizer dipped in ice-cream.... Yuck. I thought that Jake Gyllenhaal's performance was probably the best. And as a villain he was one that we had seen at least four times before. Also, this is the second Spider-Man movie in a row where we didn't get a Spider-Man villain, we got an Iron Man villain who takes it out on Peter. Boo.
Russ Troutt (291 KP) rated Vacation (2015) in Movies
Aug 2, 2019
I'll be honest, I went into the new Vacation movie with very low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I was laughing from the opening credits to the end. We all know it was Uncle Eddie that made the original vacation movies so great, but he sadly isn't in the new movie. There is a character that makes the new movie hilarious though, and that's the youngest Griswold son. That foul mouthed little asshole had me rolling. If you are on the fence about seeing it, I say load the family up in the old station wagon and take a road trip to the movies to watch Vacation.
