How best to describe 'X-Wing: Wraith Squadron', the fifth book in the Star Wars series of books (loosely) based on the old video-games? I think the following exchange from the early part of the novel sums it up best (with Wedge speaking):

' " .. I'd originally thought that Rogue Squadron would be used opportunistically: a strike mission would reveal a ground-based weakness, and we'd have the training and supplies ot go down and perform the necessary ground mission. The way it turned out, we keep landing full-fledged commando missions. So I think we need another Commando X-Wing squadron, one where we choose pilots so as to have a full range of intrusion and subversion skills. Rogue Sqaudron was designed as a fighter unit first, commando unit second; this time, I want to go the other way around."

...

"I want pilots no one else want. Washouts. Pilots staring court-martials in the face. Trouble-makers and screw-ups." '

The rest of the novel deals, primarily, with the formation of that unit and their first mission, concentrating in particular on two members of that unit and their own internal battle against themselves.

While not the strongest of spin-off novels (and, maybe, slightly longer than it needs to be), this is still an enjoyable enough diversion for a couple of days light reading.

Alpha Rogue ( Volume 1)

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

When Rose is sent to do surveillance on a rogue alpha working in the underground cage fighting circuit, she isn't expecting Hawes: a pretty boy with the looks of an adonis and the ability to easily crush opponents twice his size. She also isn't expecting him to be cocky, conceited, and too independent for his own good. Not to mention unwilling to listen to Rose when she tells him he's in danger.

But when Rose is the one threatened, she finds out there's more to the irritating alpha male than she thought. For one, he'll do anything to protect her. For two, he drives a Ferrari and owns a mansion. And for three, he sets her blood on fire when he kisses her.

Now if only they can escape the people chasing them long enough to figure out if there's something between them that's really worth fighting for.

This is Terry Bolryder doing what she does best! She somehow fits what feels like a full length book into 12 chapters! Yes I know this set is in 3 parts but she still pack out her chapters so well! This has started really well and definitely as expected!

Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) in Movies

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018)

Way back in 1996 we were introduced to the movie franchise of Mission: Impossible, now 22 years later (yes you read that right!), we’ve got to the sixth movie, Mission: Impossible Fallout, with Tom Cruise reprising his role of Ethan Hunt and showing us that he is still one heck of an adrenaline junkie with even more edge of the seat stunts and action.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing the team of Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Rebecca Ferguson back together in the latest movie and to see Henry Cavill (with that moustache that caused some CGI removal in Justice League), so I popped over to the Scala Cinema in Prestatyn to check out the movie.

Now with all the previous Mission: Impossible movies I went into this one, not really knowing too much about the movie, I like to have the surprises that the franchise throws at you and not have any spoilers, so long story short, all I knew is that the IMF is trying to get their hands back on some stolen plutonium that a new rogue faction called The Apostles want to use to wipe out a third o the world’s population and on the way Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his team have to get their hands back on Soloman Lane (Sean Harris) who we last saw in Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation.

Great stunts (1 more)
Brilliant car chase
Some minor weak plot lines and elements (0 more)
Another hit MI film
I really enjoyed the last MI film Rogue Nation and thought that was a very high standard to beat. I would say this is nearly as good almost level with that film. It is a long film but the huge action scenes, chases, stunts and fights make the film fly by. The car and bike chases in Paris are epic! Good to see it follow on from the last film. There are only a couple of minor issues with predictable plot elements. Otherwise this is a fantastic action film, a true blockbuster.

(So a family of four heroes, working for a secret evil genius, who they personally know? Are we sure this isn't a MARVEL movie?)
