There's a new wealthy family at "The Gardens," a gated New York community - the Golden family. Not only do they all have strange names (straight out of ancient Roman and Greek history and mythology), but they themselves seem a bit odd. René is a fellow resident, with ambitions in filmmaking, including a project to document the Golden family, but René hasn't decided if he can tell their true story or make up something fictional based on the Goldens; either way, René can't stay away from the Golden House. I thought some of this book was ridiculous but i fell in love with it anyway. Especially Roman and his relationship with Kasha. Oh, and her robotic arm. Not that i didnt love the rest of the cast but those two were my favourites. These girls got up to some right mischief but still managed to win two amazingly hot guys. I was in stitches quite a few times with their exploits and didnt want to put the book down at all.

Definitely recommend this if you like contemporary romances with quite a lot of humour in them. I look forward to reading more books by these authors.

Her Knight in Shining Stone (The Gargoyles of New York #1) by Tamsin Baker
Her Knight in Shining Stone is the first short story in The Gargoyles of New York series. We meet Roman, the elder of four brothers, all gargoyles who have yet to find their mate (Beloved). He is suffering pain when he shifts, a clear sign that he needs to meet his Beloved soon or he will be stuck in his gargoyle form. He finds her working as a waitress and the connection between them is instantaneous. Whilst she feels the connection, Cristiana also has doubts over whether she can be with Roman when she won't see him at all during the day.

Being as this is a short story, it moves along at a very swift pace. I would have preferred to have it 'fleshed out' a bit more - more detail on the history of Gargoyles, the mystery surrounding the danger that is coming to them, Cristiana's history - but that is just me. This was very well written, with no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. I have been left wanting to know more, especially about Rafe. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and would recommend it as a quick read, coffee break, book.

Who Stabbed the Groom?
The wedding of Summer Harrington, daughter of the richest family in Yarrow Glen, and Nelson Trumbull, the nephew of the town’s mayor, is fast approaching. Willa Bauer is thrilled that several local businesses are involved in the shower, including Curds & Whey. Willa is busy setting up the cheese bar she will be offering, but it gives her a front row seat to a fight between the supposedly happy couple that leads Summer to call off the shower. However, things take a turn when Willa finds Nelson stabbed to death in the stable a little while later. Unfortunately, Willa’s almost boyfriend, Roman, looks to be the prime suspects. Can Willa prove Roman is innocent?

It was wonderful to be visiting Willa and the rest of her friends again. I like how a sub-plot brought in events from the previous book, making it seems like these are real people and not just characters. I’m interested in seeing where some of the storylines go from here. The plot starts quickly, and Willa has some interesting dynamics to deal with as she tries to get to the truth. The climax logically wrapped everything up and kept me turning pages. If you are left craving cheese, you’ll be interested in the three recipes at the end of the book. This story left me hungry for the next entry in the series.
