Saving your marriage or zombie apocalypse?

I have to admit being new to the world of British cinema (since I live in the US) so those extreme British accents are still a struggle for me at times (especially when you guys talk so fast!). I have to admit to even putting subtitles on a few times so I could get all the words.

Interesting premise of this film and the recommendation from a friend to watch.

How would you feel if a zombie infestation began right while your marriage was on the rocks? Which would be your priority to correct?

This young couple grapples with this exact issue and it is relatively successful. They spend time disagreeing with each other and moping about in their flat since they cannot go outside without having to deal with infected hoards trying to devour them. They begin having meaningful dialogue and then they get a knock at their door. A random couple ask if they can come and hide within to remove themselves from danger and are obliged. They immediately become a nuisance asking for provisions which are already in short supply and to "borrow a toothbrush"? I thought that was funny.

Their stay at the apartment is short, but long enough to have the couple start to unite themselves against their new house guests. After their departure, the couple becomes more intimate and work on their relationship before even more unwanted guests arrive.

The dialogue was a bit corny at times, but worked overall. I enjoyed the fresh take on the zombie genre. If romantic comedy zombie horror is a new sub genre I'm all in.

I received this book from Hot Tree Promotions as part of the blog tour in return for a fair and honest review.

When we first meet Kate and Jesse, they don't exactly get along. Jesse comes across as quite arrogant whereas Kate isn't prepared to accept his attitude and so dishes out one of her own. As the story gets going and you understand more about how these two know each other and the details behind H.I.S. then it just rockets away. The story is fast paced, well written and plotted out to the nth degree which shows in how it flows.

Although this story can be read as a standalone, I personally am reading it as the first in a series because, believe me, I'm hooked. I want to know ALL the brother's (and Emily's) stories - why doesn't Devon go out in the field, is AJ going to be okay, did Rylee and Devon meet in Vegas, and that's just to name a few of the questions this book has left me with. To become that invested from the first book means its a winner for me.

This book is not an insta-love book (thank goodness!), insta-lust yes, but not insta-love. That grows steadily as both our main characters work through their issues, not the least of which is that someone is trying to kill one or both of them. You will be following the story along with baited breath as you try to figure out "whodunnit" but the twists at the end are jaw-droppingly excellent.

First in a series, first by this author - excellent all round Romantic Suspense. Highly recommended.

MARKED YOURS is the first book in the Sentries series and it introduces us to a post-apocalyptic world where the rules have changed. Same-sex partnerships aren't seen as any different to any other kind of romantic or love partnership. What is different is you can be chosen from birth to be either a sentry or a slave. To be honest, there isn't much difference between the two, although sentries have the illusion of being free.

I loved this story so much, and am so glad it's only the first book in the series. Nick was trained as a slave, and you learn through his history and flashbacks that the training wasn't all sweetness and light! Todd was trained as a sentry, and his training had the same pattern as Nick's. These two are starved for affection and each can give the other what they so desperately crave.

I would have liked a bit more information about just what it was that Nick and Todd could do, but I also, paradoxically, preferred how this book was about the two of them. How they had got to know each other. How trust was an issue for both of them. How they so desperately wanted the other to be safe.

The ending is perfect for this book, and it is yet another thing I would like to be expanded upon in the next book, or at least somewhere within the series!

A brilliant story that I adored, a series I can't wait to read more from, and a book I have no hesitation in recommending.
