I began watching this show with zero expectations. It's not typically a show I would watch, but it did hook me within the first couple episodes. The one negative complaint I have is the completely boring character of Tara. I think Hunnam does a good job as Jax, and I love Ron Perlman in everything, so those were two high points.

A horrific reboot
A rushed story..no character development and an ending that was about as exciting as watching paint dry, whoever authorised this reboot should never be allowed to work in the movie industry again.
Hellboy will always be Ron Perlman with Guillermo del Toro directing the way.How hellboy creator Mike Mignola gave the ok to this reboot is beyond comprehension.

Before I watched this film, I read through the little booklet that accompanied the Criterion Collection edition, and it made me feel like I'd done nothing with my life because I was the same age as GDT when he made the film.
I thought it was good for a debut film. It did take a while to get going, but I still enjoyed it. It does look low budget, but wasn't enough to distract me.

The inspiration for the Ron-Perlman led movie(s) of the same name, Hellboy - like the lead character - is sort of a strange mix: in this case, of the occult with the medium of the graphic novel with a very Cthulu-like monster at the end of the tale.
I also have to say that this is proof that Marvel and DC aren't the only two publishers in the world able to produce compelling and enjoyable reads!

Hmmm … roughly 15 years after the Guillermo del Torro directed 'Hellboy' and 11 years after 'Hellboy 2: The Golden Army' (both starring Ron Perlman as Big Red), we have - essentially - a reboot of sorts, this time with David Harbour (whoever he is. From Stranger Things - I've yet to watch that - apparently) taking on the lead role, with support from Ian McShane and - this time - with Milla Jovovich taking on the role of the 'big bad' Nimue.
Yes, that Nimue, from Arthurian folklore.
Which should tell you pretty much all you need to know: a mish-mash hodge-podge of sorts, with some leaden dialogue and a migraine-inducing thumping soundtrack, that borrows more liberally from the source comic than I remember the previous films doing, while also being a fair bit bloodier!
