Rachel North is a non-traditional law student at 36, but she plans to join her husband, Jack Kirkland, in his practice as of one Boston’s premier defense lawyers once she graduates. But first she has to survive a summer internship with ADA Martha Gardiner. To say that Jack and Martha hate each other is putting it mildly, but Rachel thinks it will a good opportunity for opposition research. When Martha takes a personal interest in Rachel, Rachel is flattered. But can she navigate the two lawyers now in her life? Or is she being played?

This book not only switches between the present and when Rachel first met Jack and Martha six years ago, but it also incorporates all three character’s viewpoints. Don’t worry, it all flows smoothly, and you can always tell who and when you are currently learning about. I will admit I had a bit of a different idea what a book called The Murder List might be about, but I quickly got hooked on the story being told here. This is a suspense novel, with plenty of twists and surprises along the way. My biggest struggle was the characters. This really is Rachel, Jack, and Martha’s story, and all three are deeply flawed. I found it hard to root for them at various points in the story; I usually like to have at least one character I can root for. Overall, I did enjoy this book and I’m glad I read it.

I recently had the opportunity to do some editing on this book and here are my thoughts on it:

If you are looking for a wickedly sexy paranormal romance read with lycans, vampires and even a witch or two then look no further. Julia and Seth will captivate and tantalize all of your senses as you can feel their chemistry jump right off the pages. I was immediately tangled up in the steamy web that the author weaved. The story line is well developed and all the characters are strong and full of individual characteristics. You will quickly find yourself choosing a side to root for and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.

So as basic as the writing was this book was pretty good. Not the best but not horrible.

The only thing that threw me off was the main character.

I'm not a big fan of characters who constantly contradict themselves. Like one minute the main character was like "I'm swearing off men and im staying away from the guys who i find attractive." and the next shes like "oh i hope hes still interested in me."

Another flaw in the books was the lack of relationship depth.

Sure you can see the connection but it really didn't play out well enough to have me root for them.

All in all this book gets 3 stars.

This book was not meant to be an easy fluffy read. This book is going to bring out ferocity, anger, pain, and sadness. It is wonderfully written and beautifully poetic. Each character has a back story that unfolds in ways you aren’t expecting. You root for one side then switch as you find out more and more.
While I began with a dislike of the main character I think that was supposed to happen? As the book progresses she got less naive.
Perfect for fans of fantasy, retribution, and magic. But be forewarned that this book will destroy you with each page and require some serious reflection before you can move on.

Thank you for letting me read this egalley.

First off I want to say how much this book blew my mind. I went in thinking this would be a fluffy story and man was I wrong. This book is so much more. There is drama, love, family, and an overarching idea that sometimes life may look bad from your point of view but others may see something else. Perspective. This book has it and it makes you sit up and listen.
Poppy and Claire are sister goals and I will forever root for them.
If you are in the mood to be moved and feel all while getting that warm feeling of love pick up this book.
