"This has got to be the most wonderful film about that transitional period that groups of close friends in young adulthood must go through as they accept more and more the responsibilities of maturity. There is so much spontaneous camaraderie, natural humor, truth, and, finally, Chekhovian sadness in this gentle masterpiece. Plus, those Italian slackers sure know how to dress!"

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

"Jack Nicholson is extraordinary in it, but that is an ensemble movie where everyone carries the story. And it’s a movie about social injustice and inequity and the disenfranchised, and it will kill you. It will sway you with its sadness, but in a way that is appropriate, and there is a glimmer of hope at the end, I would say."

"A masterpiece and one of the key achievements of 1970s New Hollywood—maybe only behind the Godfather films. Its mix of loving classicism, European influences, and ’70s permissiveness is jolting and desperately real. American small-town life has never been rendered with such empathy, unapologetic frankness, sadness, and despair. Timothy Bottoms’s performance is the most wrenching portrayal of male adolescence ever."

"My favorite book is Replay, by Ken Grimwood, about a man who replays his life and the decisions he’s made over and over. The takeaway for me was that no matter what life you’ve led or the choices you’ve made, there will always be great love and great sadness—you can’t escape those two things. I think that’s a great lesson."

My fascination with this book began with a required reading assignment. Since then, I have read this book over at least 5 different times. The story is rich and realistic, so easy to get lost in. There's a certain comfort in the sadness of the main character and in all that he does. Everyone and their mother should read this book at least once in their lifetime.

First book I ever read by Jodi Picoult which lead me to read as many of her other books as I could find. The story has really stuck with me and I find myself thinking about it months after I've read it. This book made me feel crazy amounts of sadness and anger, and I think it will stick with others after they have read it.

So.. I'm not big on the time travelling but the characters and storyline was fast paced and interesting so it worked for me. I loved the sisters and I loved their heros.. they are all wonderful and sexy and so very very sweet. There was a lot of twists and turns.. bravery and sadness.. and a lot of happiness and love.. It was very good

Storytelling in the Raw
The Director, Peter Berg, has always done his due diligence in providing the most accurate means of storytelling when it comes to films based on real events, however harsh or offensive they might be. Patriots Day can fill you with anger, sadness, joy or hope, sometimes all at once, which is precisely the task of the director and crew....feeling.
