This story is told from multiple perspectives, but I think Gabe is the protagonist of this novel. He is absolutely crushed man, his wife was murdered, and his daughter is missing, even though everyone tries to convince Gabe that Izzy is dead, Gabe refuses to accept it, because he saw her that day in the rusty car. There are many various characters in this book, and they tell their own stories, but it is incredible how the author knitted their stories into one, a beautiful and absorbing masterpiece. The characters are so complex and intriguing. In the beginning, I was left guessing, why this random service station waitress is sharing her life story? But the more I read, the more addicted I got.

People who state that this is a rip off of either Transcendence or Replicas have missed something. I even saw one reference to the movie Her in a critique. Really? Other than AI presence there is no similarity. At least with the other two (Replicas and Transcendence) there's a similar idea of a life living on through the use of an AI shell. Alas, I digress.
This movie was actually a lot better than I expected. I think that if it had gotten a proper theater release it might have done pretty well and found a wider audience. No spoilers here, but I will say that my jaw literally dropped during this movie, which isn't something that happens often at all.

I was not as impressed with You as I'd hoped I would be. At first, I thought it was extremely unique, the perspective, and I still think that, but after about 20 chapters it was starting to wear down on me. I kept second guessing Joe's knowledge, because what if he had an actual mental illness and only saw things the way he wanted to see them? I was interested to find out what would happen in the end between Joe and Beck; it was an interesting story, to say the least. I just didn't feel like all the hype was absolutely necessary. I will say that Caroline wrote something completely different and that, at least before it grated on me, was refreshing.
