Heath Ledger as the Joker.... amazing! Dark, twisted, hilarious, wonderful depth to the character, no one could have done it better. (2 more)
It has everything you want in a movie..drama, suspense, romance, explosions, bank robberies and so much more
Brilliant casting..Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and Morgan Freeman!
Why So Serious Son? Best Joker ever!
I wasn't expecting to like this movie as I'm not really a big Batman/superhero fan. However, I took my son to see it in the theater and was instantly enthralled by Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker. The rest is history! I can (and have) watched this over and over again and I can only say that about a handful of movies. Quoting the Joker's lines became a thing in my home for months after we saw it.

A space Titanic
This is basically Titanic set in space, albeit a much better film than Titanic will ever be.
Let's get it straight, this is not a full blown sci-fi epic. This is a romantic love story set in space, with some sci-fi elements thrown in. As long as you can accept that, then this is a really good film. Yes the romance part of the story is pretty predictable, but for me this didn't matter due to the sheer likeability and chemistry between Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence. They did get a great job of holding a film virtually all on their own, although Michael Sheen was a delight in all of his scenes too. The special effects too were very impressive and this is definitely one of the better films I saw in the new year.

'That's America's Ass'
I was initially going to review this after I saw it for a second time (tomorrow morning), but I don't feel like my opinion is going to change.
This film is exactly what you expect, there are no real surprises, and it's highly predictable. Is that a bad thing? For me, personally, I like to be surprised, but it made sense.
The ends for the characters are fitting. So, the film ultimately does do what it was aiming for. It was a three hour nostalgia fest that was mostly satisfying. The new Disney+ shows are also set up well.
I want to keep it spoiler free, so I'll end there. Also, I may be the only one that found the fact that a rando side character in the storage center reading Ballard's 'The Terminal Beach' after the snap completely hilarious.

On the edge of my seat, another fantastic horror from Jordan Peele!
Finally got around to watching this. After watching "Get Out" I saw this was another horror film from the director Jordan Peele. After watching the trailer I wanted to get it watched straight away but never got around to it.
I'm glad I've finally got it watched. I was on the edge of my seat once the main story began with the gore and the suspense. It wasn't what I expected at all but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Would definitely recommend it if you enjoyed "Get Out" as it has a similar feel with a different story.
It had twists and turns throughout keeping the story flowing but there were a couple of questions that were left unanswered.

Michael Sheen
I'm not a huge fan of Neil Gaiman (or a fan at all), and I was kind of meh on the novel this is based on. But, when I saw David Tennant and Michael Sheen were cast, I was interested. On a whim, I ended up starting the series last night, and wanted to stay up all night to finish, but didn't.
I liked the series way more than the book itself. I was hooked, and Sheen and Tennant were perfect in their roles. The humor was good, and the casting for the other characters was strong too. Jon Hamm as Gabriel was my other favorite.
Of course, with any TV show, the CGI was shoddy, but it kind of seems like the norm to me. Overall, I'm glad Amazon produced this miniseries, and I may have to watch it again.

On the Table: ‘Zombicide: Black Plague’ Board Game Review
The fourth standalone board game in CoolMiniOrNot and Guillotine Games’ hit zombie killin’ franchise is finally here! This time, things get more than a little medieval in what may very well be the best ‘Zombicide’ adventure yet.
I’ve heard good things about ‘Zombicide’ for a few years now, but since I had already owned a couple of other zombie-themed board games, I didn’t really feel the need to add one more to my collection. But when I saw the ‘Zombicide: Black Plague’ Kickstarter campaign launch last summer, I just couldn’t stop myself from jumping in and making a pledge. I’m glad I did because this is a fun and tension filled game that really captures the essence of a zombipocalypse.

Harry Potter’s Albus son gets a chance to prove what a hero he can be. However, things don’t go as planned, and an attempt to fix things only makes them worse. Can he fix them? Will his famous father be able to help him?
This is a play script. That means it isn’t nearly as immersive as the books we all love. It takes a bit to get used to essentially reading dialogue, but once we do, it becomes easier to slip back into Harry’s world. We get to see plenty of old friends as well as the new generation, and I enjoyed some of what we saw of the characters. The plot was a little out there, but I enjoyed the character stuff so much I didn’t really care.

Great update
I thought this was a very good film and a great remake. It's not entirely scene for scene like some and gives a lot more time to Michael as a young boy and reasons for him to turn evil. Rather than just a madman on the run from the asylum. Although some key scenes are kept and a few are changed slightly for the update, why change what worked so well in the original. Some people will just rate down remakes just for the sake of it, but seriously Halloween might have been scary if you saw it in your teens but today? This builds on what was a great horror classic and adds a few touches, more of a back story, a bit more violent and sexed up a little for todays audience. Whether you have seen the original or not you should check this out.

Like "Black Mirror" does "Cocoon"
This film sees Chris visiting his girlfriend's parents for the first time, on what turns out to be their annual get-together with friends and neighbours. Chris is somewhat taken aback by everyone's positive, curious reaction to his African-American heritage and becomes increasingly unnerved by the odd behaviour of the family's black servants.
I have to admit, I saw the twist coming from very early on but this didn't ruin the journey for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the creepy atmosphere building throughout the film and Chris' increasingly awkward interactions with his few fellow people of colour at the party.
This is not a normal horror film, except for the final half hour, instead it is an intense psychological thriller with the added social awkwardness around people's inherent racism and need to talk/not talk about it.
An excellent film with a brilliant cast.
