Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989)

Excellent adventure
The story of two senior high school students who need to pass their oral history exam who get an time traveling phone booth to go and borrow historical figures to help them pass the exam in a really excellent fashion. The movie is full of fun and laughs even though the science is a little bit stretched. The fun of seeing Napoleon at a water park or Gengis Kahn go psycho in a mall dressed like a linebacker is worth the time. George Carlin plays the futuristic man who is tasked with getting them on their way and it makes a nice star cameo.

Fifteen years ago today, or two days from now, The Day After Tomorrow (2004) was released, which made scheduling this anniversary review somewhat tricky.
Until, at least, “2012” came out, “The Day After Tomorrow” was the undisputed holder of the critical-existential-threat-to-all-life-on-Earth-trivialised-by-hysterical-pseudo-science movie championship (the trophy is enormous) and while it may have added fossil fuel to the fires of ignorance over the conceptual dissonance of global warming and climate change, it also managed to tap into not just environmental fears, but touched older cultural nerves like ruined harvests and nuclear winters...

Commander Toad and the crew of the Star Warts are ready to explore a new planet made entirely of water. After landing on their inflatable lily pad, they discover they are not alone. Is this planet friendly?

This is a fun adventure that introduces us to Toad and his crew. The story is fasted pace, the easy reader vocabulary is perfect, and the pictures are fun. There are some nice puns, and adults will get a kick out of the science fiction spoofs.

Sun and Shade by Mary Lindeen is an early level reader science book. The photographs are beautiful and show the difference between sun and shade. Showing the difference helps young readers understand what they are reading easier. The pictures show the difference between sunshine and shade, moist and dry, the position of the sun in the solar system. High frequency words are used which helps the reader add to their vocabulary.

I would love to have this book in my classroom library.

I give this book 4.5/5 stars.

I received this book from Norwood House Press via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

As a fan of slowburn, this book is not exactly for me, considering the romance is in a literal day. However, credit is given where credit is due (is that the saying?) and truly, this was a very good book. It was fast-paced, complicated, and the perspectives of other people along with the two mains were a blessing, kind of a quiet separation from the main thing, shedding light on the fact that people who you don't know significantly have complicated lives, just like you. This book proves that fate and science are different, but maybe they just go hand in hand with each other.
