I have never really been into science fiction novels, steering more toward fantasy. Enders game was probably the first science fiction book I've read and I was so impressed. The idea of video gamers being chosen for war is brilliant and the development of all the characters is very intriguing. The psychology used on the kids is fascinating, brutal and so effective its scary. Loved delving into this novel and hope one day theres a film that is actual worth it.

Not so much science fiction as it is science fantasy, this novel pretty much proves the old matra that you can't judge a cover by it's (in this case, dodgy) cover. Not the best book I've ever read, not even the best by Simon Green, but still worth a look if you like space opera.

"As a piece of modern cinema, I would love to mention Alex Garland’s Ex Machina, which I thought was a brilliant, brilliant film. I think in a year that saw Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson have another science fiction film out as well, it was such a great reminder of how smaller, more thoughtful, more intense, grown-up… It’s an example of the combination of those things, in a way, a kind of more science fiction in the vein of 2001, a more cerebral, literally cerebral kind of science fiction film that was and just how beautifully performed it is. Alicia Vikander is amazing in that film. It’s a film that I’ve watched many times because I just, I don’t seem to tire of it. I think it’s excellent."

""One of my favorite science-fiction movies is Gravity starring Sandra Bullock. As a rocket scientist, I was blown away by the stunning visual effects and three-dimensional-like movement. Plus, I am thankful that producers and writers cast a woman as an astronaut to bring science concerns to the forefront of American and international discussion.""
