"Heard this on the radio a few weeks back. They’re a Scottish punk band from 1979. Love the scratchy guitars and the vocals. Reminded me of when we first started Supergrass in terms of the punk energy mixed with a musical and melodic edge."

This is a fabulous book, a real gem.
Beautiful , well written, poignant and inspiring.
The first volume of the trilogy, A Scots Quair' Sunset Song was voted best Scottish book of all time, in 2005.

I enjoyed reading this book, looking at the Great War through football. While I'm not completely sold that the Scottish dude participated in the match, I was ok with conjecture. It probably could have been a bit more concise, but it was still a good read.

"I love this band, mostly because I love singers with a Scottish accent. I think the lyrics are so special. 'Please, put down your guns, lower your weapons . . . I declare a change of heart.' I like that they are still a little secret. Maybe not for long . . . "

I could certainly appreciate the beauty of Wyld's writing, but I'm not sure that this book was the best one for me to start with. Take a look at my #bookreview on my blog here to find out more https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2020/08/28/scottish-shadows/

Paddington 2 (2017)
2017 | Animation, Comedy, Family
I haven't seen the first Paddington film so was worried if I'd miss the intricacies of the plot or character development. But like with other superhero origin films, I think that film's purpose was to set up the sequels.
The film has an excellent cast and a strong storyline to make the most of them.
My one main gripe would be that there is a well-known English actor playing a Scottish character (Julie Walters) and yet two well-known Scottish actors playing English characters (Peter Capaldi and Tom Conti) which just struck me as odd but I'm not going all SNP about it.
