Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Tempting the Beast (Breeds, #1; Feline Breeds, #1) in Books

Hmmm... How many times can a book say the C word... I am not a prude but using the C word over 10 times in a chapter is just...different.
I thought that the basic consept of this novel was interesting. This was a quick read. The characters were interesting yet unrealistic. The main girl character made me want to scream half the time. The sex was a little too much, most of the time I had to just turn my brain off and try not to think that it was sexually assault. I understand that at the moments of passion the brain turns off and they are animalistic but seriously, it read like a woman's wet dream and not like a thought out novel.

Not one of the Rock's best
This is one of those wildly cheesy, silly and overblown action films that sadly goes way too over the top. The technology is just too much, the script is pretty average and the whole plot is just very predictable and silly. At least as with all of Dwayne Johnson's films, it is vaguely entertaining but not particularly memorable. The bad guys are cliched and altogether unforgettable and the whole film is just very "meh". The only really good thing I can say is that it was nice to see Neve Campbell in something recent that isn't a Scream film (as that's all I've seen her in). Other than that this is an alright film for background noise and that's it. Even Rampage was better than this.
ArecRain (8 KP) rated Heat Rises in Books

This book is a joke. I read the sample and enjoyed it so went ahead and bought the novella. Had the sample included just a few more pages, I never would have. The writing while so ridiculous and cheesy that I could not take it seriously. When Ethan told Laura that he wanted to "bury himself inside of her", I grimaced a bit. But when Laura calls Ethan's penis his "big beauty", I gagged. It only gets worse from there. Not to mention Gaines references heat rising, or heat in general, on pretty much every single page. After awhile I want to scream at the book "alright, we get it already!!!"
It is a personal rule of mine to finish what I start, but I couldn't muster the strength to finish this one.

Alex Trybus (79 KP) rated White Noise by PVRIS in Music

Nothing but love for PVRIS and this album
I almost have no words for this review... I adore everything about Lynn (the lead singer) and PVRIS. I have been listening to them for quite some time now, and this particular album will always hold still in my heart. St. Patrick makes me scream, You and I makes me cry, and I can easily sing along and dance to all the other songs. I had the pleasure of seeing most of these songs live in Philadelphia this past October and I can honestly say that I cried. It was such a surreal experience, and the music sounds exactly the same live (if not better) than recorded on the album. I adore everything about it.

This is another great book, I could have finished it earlier than I did but I had to put it down. This book is amazing, it makes you cry, scream, and want to throw the book around. Only a few books have ever made me want to throw the book around and cry at the same time.
It has a good plot and some great characters that you fall in love with and truly care about. I had to take a break from reading but that didn't keep my mind from constantly thinking about the characters and what would happen next.
But I will warn you, it is a book that is very hard to stop reading. It keeps you on the edge of your seat waiting for the next page.

James Koppert (2698 KP) rated The Vegetarian in Books

The Vegetarian
There is a dark irony in this novel where the person at the centre, who is dying due to her insanity is the one person who seems most at peace and dare I say happy in her beautiful ignorance. The others are playing their roles and thinking themselves resigned to a state of resignation walking forward with regret. There are also string themes of patriarchy and it's oppression of the females but written almost as if the men are unwilling partakers as if they feel they have no choice but to be oppressive due to their place in the world from birth. This book is so filled with pain the words scream at you. It is bitterness and darkness buying your mind. A very bleak but captivating read and worthy of its accolades
