This is a fine debut novel from the TV host. A body is unearthed in a small Irish village and PJ Collins, the local policeman, must dig through the characters’ past to find the killer. This is an exciting plot set against the humdrum of village life. The characters are believable in their mundanity, the tone of their conversation, peppered with occasional profanity, secrets and gossip, is a joy to read. The story is told with observational wit and flair but doesn’t rely too much on overplaying the Irish accent when reading. If you’re a fan of the author, I highly recommend listening to the audio version that’s available as Norton’s narration brings the characters to life, full of lilt and accent.

Anyone who needs a dose of warm sunshine will enjoy this novel set over a long hot summer in the French countryside. Jess and her ten-year-old son William set off to spend a summer in a chateau restored by Adam, his father and Jess' ex-partner. Jess wants William and Adam to form a closer bond and finds herself impressed with Adam's successful hotel venture. Friends arrive and the summer rolls on, secrets and stories unfold. This novel emerges you in the lavender scented warmth of France, the dynamics of family, old friends and new acquaintances and heart wrenching decisions. Isaac' scharacters are believable and pull you into their world. This could be equally appreciated on a sun-lounger or curled up by the fire.

A phone call from an old friend sets Dr. Giovanni Vecchio back on the path of a mysterious manuscript he's hunted for over five hundred years. He never expected a young student librarian could be the key to unlock its secrets, nor could he have predicted the danger she would attract.

Now he and Beatrice De Novo follow a twisted maze that leads from the archives of a university library, though the fires of Renaissance Florence, and toward a confrontation hundreds of years in the making.

I really enjoyed reading this! Loved the discovery of witches vibe I got. The characters are brilliant I loved them all.it flowed easy enough and I didn't want to put it down. Look forward to book 2.
