This is a self-help/memoir with a bit of everything in it. It gave me a good laugh and was definitely entertaining throughout. Carrie reflects on her teenage years – the mistakes that she made and the fun that she had. She actually had a pretty normal life other than Tom Fletcher being her brother!
I did love all of the nerdy puns she used! It definitely gave me a good laugh.
The book is full of little anecdotes. I didn’t really get along with the form because it didn’t seem to flow very well. Each chapter (or ‘act’ as she puts it) jumps around a lot throughout Carrie’s childhood which made it a bit hard to follow. I would rather she had just written about her childhood than categorising everything and making it into a bit of a confusing mess.
My main problem with this was that parts felt forced. The writing didn’t always flow or feel natural and I feel like that fits in with the theme of YouTubers bringing out books. They often seem rushed and not quite right, and this one was another of those.
This didn’t stop me from enjoying it, but I feel like it could do better.

Hixon Drake and Greta Dare begin their story with misunderstanding and hurt feelings. After a night together, Hix brushes Greta off like a one night stand and drives off. Greta, a kind-hearted and generous soul, does not know how to hold a grudge, though, so when Hix gets another chance, she lets him in.
Both characters have issues: Hix is a newly single dad with a slightly unstable ex-wife. Greta is responsible for the care of her mentally disabled younger brother (made so by an accident caused by their self-involved mother.) Both have to overcome their hang-ups and interfering third parties in order to finally find their HEA.
Outside of family drama, Hix is the county sheriff investigating a murder in a town that hasn't had a homicide in decades. Greta finds herself attacked by a stalker, which leads her to seek Hix's help.
Ashley is well known in the romance world for crafting swoonworthy alpha heroes and kickass heroines. Complicated is one of her rare standalones, and is not connected to any of her other books.
I really, really LIKED this book, but I can't say that I LOVED it. I'm not sure if I can put my finger on why. I am a huge KA fan, and LOVE many of her books; most of which I've read more than once.

Carlos is very insecure about himself and his self-worth is very low. He's afraid if he is not like his peers they will reject him and not be his friend any more. He turns hot pink when he's with the flamingos, bright blue with his frog buddies, and orange with black spots when it's playtime with the jaguar pack. He yearns so much to fit in and be just like them. He thinks being the same is key to making their friendships work.
One day the animals discover his real color, which is a lovely emerald green. Since they are his true friends they assure him that he is gorgeous. Carlos is relieved to learn that it's not about his outward appearance at all, but about his loving warm heart inside of him.
This book has extra notes and resources for teachers and parents to utilize. This is a very important message that will teach kids that they are unique and can celebrate exactly who they were created to be.
