LeftSideCut (3776 KP) rated A Quiet Place: Part II (2021) in Movies

The younger actors are fantastic, especial Millicent Simmonds. She essentially takes the lead this time around, and the film is richer for it. The narrative isn't too different to be honest, but it does expand on the general lore of the series and flirts a little with how the apocalypse came to be, something I wanted to see for sure.
With this sequel comes a bigger budget, and it certainly shows. The aliens look great, and the action is more abundant and chaotic. This is also a slight criticism - the set pieces are well done and entertaining, but it does mean that the quiet intensity of the first movie is pushed to the wayside a little. It's still there, but sits out more than I would have liked.
It's hard to say whether Part II is a superior film to it's predecessor or not, but as a pair of films, they make for a fantastic double viewing. I'm excited to see what comes next.

Sarah (7800 KP) rated Beyond Broadhall in Books

Like the first book, i struggled to put this down. It’s full of humour and heartwarming relationships, whilst Craig Pelling again tries to repair his damaged and broken life. I actually nearly shed a tear or two on more than one occasion. After the ending of the first book there’s really only a limited number of ways this sequel can pan out and this is the only real negative - unlike the first book which shocked me with how it ended, Beyond Broadhall is a tad predictable. That said, it’s the journey that matters in this book. Not everything pans out the way you’d expect and the entertainment stems from the investment you have in Craig. He really is a lovable and endearing character. I will admit that the ending of this book is making a tad cheesy and overly sweet and schmaltzy, but it’s nice to read how it turns out for Craig in the end. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed reading a book series as much as this one!

David McK (3666 KP) rated Star Wars X-Wing: Wedge's Gamble (Rogue Squadron #2) in Books
Sep 8, 2024 (Updated Sep 8, 2024)
These novels (and the aforementioned games, now all considered 'Legends' by Disney) are my head-canon of what the sequel trilogy should have been.
Anyway, in this novel in particular, the action now moves from space to the city-planet of Coruscant, the seat of the Imperial Government that took over from the Old Republic and - in the Legends continuity at least - also that of the New Republic.
Here, we have the members of Rogue Squadron infiltrating said city planet and looking for a way to bring down the planetary shields so that the rest of the fleet can arrive, but they may be playing into the villain-of-the-piece Ysanne Isard's hands in so doing ...
For anybody that hasn't read this, it ends in a massive cliff-hanger, so be warned you'll be wanting to move onto the sequel 'The Krytos Trap' not long after finishing it ...
Li Hughes (285 KP) rated Deadpool (2016) in Movies

No, I'm glad to say it is not. Deadpool is an action-packed, raunchy, romantic but not sappy, and character-driven movie that definitely left me wanting more. I'm glad I gave it another go and am really looking forward to the sequel.
Sarah (7800 KP) rated Bridget Jones's Baby (2016) in Movies

This is the sequel Edge of Reason should've been. It's funny, heartwarming and all round lovely. Bridget is one of those endearing characters you can't help but love, despite the fact that Renee Zellweger is looking a little plastic nowadays, and Mark Darcy is adoringly awkward. I'm not a huge fan of romantic comedies but this has to be an exception. I cant believe anyone could watch this film and not feel warm & fuzzy inside.
