The dog dies 😢
Disappointing, but not terrible

To be fair, the first film left a LOT to live up to if a sequel was ever going to match it. Sadly, even with that in mind, it did not live up to expectations.
Firstly, they kill the dog, which is unforgivable!
The way they brought Harry back was very well done, I was worried that it would be too contrived, but it was clever.
Unfortunately they killed of two of the potentially most interesting characters (and two of my favourites) from the first film, Merlin & Lancelot, which was very disappointing. Would have loved to see Lancelot go toe to toe with the American team.
And Elton John, much as I like him, if he's the best part of a film with actors of the calibre of the other cast members, something has gone very wrong.

Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
Zombieland: Double Tap (2019)
2019 | Action, Comedy, Horror
I really enjoyed the original and far better Zombieland. It felt like a fun new take on a tired genre, it had a cast and director that cared and made it work, and it had that amazing Bill Murray section. Surprisingly, because it feels like yesterday, it took 10 years to make a sequel, by which time all the best ideas along these lines have been used up, everyone is older, wiser and less energetic (including the writers, who are also the same guys). It looks like they are trying to act like it’s fun, but no one has their heart in it, especially Emma Stone, who 100% phones in an uncharacteristically lacklustre performance. It is all just the same jokes, the same beats and the same ideas, only worse in every case. The character of Maddison, played by Zoey Deutch, attempts to create a new angle but is more annoying than funny. It is more or less watchable, I guess. But probably only once.

Toy Story 4 (2019)
Toy Story 4 (2019)
2019 | Animation, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Toy Story 4 is the sequel that no one really needed. Its one massive positive is that it manages not to ruin what the first three films created. It does somehow take characters back a step in their development though, which is slightly confusing, particularly with Buzz. Seeing this film is definitely not a waste of your time, but I don't think it can top what we've already had in the series, apart from when it comes to the animation which is truly incredible. I guarantee you'll think that within the first five minutes.
Remember to stay for the credit scenes, there are four (I think) in the first section, and then one right at the end.

(Full review here. Warning... it contains a spoiler but it's in white writing on a white background so you can read the review without seeing it, just highlight it to read my waffle. http://emmaatthemovies.blogspot.com/2019/06/toy-story-4-movie-review.html)

Freddie appears unlikeable (0 more)
I'm too young to have ever seen what the real freddie mercury was like other than hearing queens songs, so this is based purely on the movie.
The movie starts off slow but soon picks up after freddie joins the other members of queen, i quickly noticed how arrogant freddie is in the start of the movie. It's like he took over a band that wasn't his to begin with, he did get the band famous but he didn't seem very likeable. The whole movie was up and down with emotion, i wasn't sure how to feel. One moment I'd be feeling sorry for him and the next calling him names for his attitude towards people. The final few minutes was probably the best part of the movie, strangely emotional though. I do feel we need a sequel though as i felt the movie was incomplete and would be interesting to see the lead up to his death.

Marvel's Spider-Man
Marvel's Spider-Man
2018 | Action/Adventure
Well, that was thoroughly enjoyable.

Seemingly taking it's cue - especially in combat - from Rocksteady's Arkham series of Batman games, this tells a completely new, completely stand-alone story, with a Peter Parker who has been Spider-Man, now, for 8 years and so is free of any restrictions placed upon it by tying it to a particular movie or graphic novel.

While it can get a bit repetitive in places, the central mechanic of web-swinging around a populated New York - one that even has a scale able The Avengers Tower in it (question: what will happen now that the Sony/Marvel deal has broken down?) - is great fun, while the story and plot itself is actually pretty good. Yes, anyone with even a passing knowledge of the Spider-Man lore may see where parts of it are going, but the fun (in this case) is in the journey, not the destination ...

Looking forward to the inevitable sequel.

Hell Fest (2018)
Hell Fest (2018)
2018 | Horror
As the movie starts we see a group of friends entering a haunted house at a fairground, they are split up from each other and one is killed by someone in a costume and hung with other bodies like an attraction, this sets the scene for the movie and got me interested straight away.
Next scene we see another group of friends talking about going to hell fest, yeah yeah we know where this is going to end right!? To be fair if hell fest was real, I would want to go too as its right up my street, you know with the murders and all!
Anyway I found the movie very good, you didn't always know if someone was about to be killed or if it was part of the festival which definitely kept you guessing throughout the movie.
The ending is not your typical Slasher movie ending and it did leave me wanting a sequel. Look out for a cameo from candy man's Tony Todd.

ok, I wasn't going to watch this one because sequels like these, I find, tend to be worse than the originals. Someone wanted me to check it out so, against my better judgements, I did. What I found was a watered down(pun intended) version of the first film(which I really liked and enjoyed). The cinematography wasn't too bad with some decent effects but the acting was weak and the storyline was too. It was very predictable and had your typical Hollywood leave-it-open-for-a-sequel ending(something the original didn't do). This could've been a stand alone film except for the glaring similarities in characters and plot(only on a much lower budget). I don't think I'll be watching the third one. Honestly, you wouldn't be missing anything if you didn't see this one yourselves. Just go watch the first one again. Much more entertaining. NOT worth a watch.

Odd, dreamy follow-up to Cat People; not really a sequel in the conventional sense at all, barely qualifies as a horror movie, either. Picks up the story a few years later; the couple from the original film are now married with a child, who has a problematically rich fantasy life. Given a 'wishing ring' by a lonely old woman, she wishes for a friend - and what appears to be the ghost of her father's first wife (Irena the Cat Woman) materialises...

Much, much gentler than it might sound; there's virtually no reference to Irena's supposedly cursed blood (she turns into a cat in moments of passion), the 'curse' mentioned in the title is the shadow her death still casts over the family. But here Irena seems entirely benign and the story is about the relationship between parents and a child struggling to fit in. Nicely made and performed, but very hard to categorise.
