Not bad
I was a fan of the saw films such as the franchise is.
You know that the series is about, you know what to expect and what is likely to happen and this is no different..
It is well thought out and possibly better than some of the later films in the series but you do tend to wonder why the have revived the series... obviously the film companies coffers are running low and an established film franchise is a money maker...

All in all it is watchable and enjoyable, IF you don’t expect anything different or too unexpected from the originals and like gory films.

One of the best zombie books I've read and the start on an epic series

Patient Zero is the first book in Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series. Jonathan Maberry is a phenomenal writer, in this series he introduces us to the DMS (Department of Military Sciences) a shadow government agency formed to respond to advanced terrorist threats such as bioterrorism, alien technology etc..

In this book we meet an array of characters such as Mr Church, Aunt Sally, Top and Bunny when Joe is recruited by Mr Church to help deal with the potential release of a zombie virus. This book is thrilling, funny, and keeps the reader itching for more.

I give this book 10/10.

The Young Hornblower Omnibus

Released to tie in with the ITV series of the same name a few years back (hence the cover photo), this omnibus edition consists of the following:

Mr Midshipman Hornblower
Lieutenant Hornblower
Hornblower and the Hotspur

While the second two are novels in their own right (with an over-reaching plot structure), it has to be said that the first (also the one the TV series seems to be based on) reads more like a series of short stories, a sense heightened by the fact that each chapter has its own distinct heading. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if that was originally the case, and they have all just been collected here under that umbrella heading of Mr Midshipman Hornblower!

It’s rare that I prefer a film or TV series to the book it is based on but I think this may be the exception. Having only seen the 1st series on TV I thought I’d give the book a go and although the world-building lives up to what I’d expect the story itself is slow and not as tense.

It’s scary and an all believable world that Atwood creates but the telling seemed bogged down in details over the mundane.

I probably spoiled myself seeing the TV series first but I’d recommend that to all. I feel the theme has been gone over plenty so won't rehash but it's a worthwhile story however you decide to consume it.
