Pastiche thriller featuring you-know-who. It's 1950, and agent 007 is killed in action while investigating drug dealing in the south of France. The head of the secret service decides to send in a newly-promoted operative to investigate the death, a young chap by the name of Bond...

Horowitz's novel tries to do the same thing as the movie version of Casino Royale - to show how Bond becomes Bond. At this he is only really marginally successful, as Bond starts the novel as a pretty icy brute and ends only more icy and brutal. That said, the book evokes the Fleming formula rather well: there is the usual mixture of globe-trotting, good living, maniacal snobbery, action, torture, and sex in just about the right proportions. Some may complain that some contemporary politics have snuck into what's essentially an escapist fantasy - one villain is a bouffant-haired American tycoon with wandering hands, who thinks America should put its own interests first, while another gets a big speech about the smallness and insignificance of Britain, and its reliance on a close relationship with Europe if it wants to prosper. Nevertheless, fun, pacy stuff and very readable.

4.5 stars.

I'll start by saying that the only reason I read this was because of this reading list on BookLikes: http://booklikes.com/apps/reading-lists/146/books-to-fall-in-love-with

And I'm really glad that I did because despite the cover, which I'll admit put me off quite a bit, I really enjoyed this story. I totally get the cover now too after reading it.

To put it bluntly one of the main characters is a porn star and our lead female meets him at a porn convention (I didn't even know these existed! Maybe it's more of an American thing since I've never heard of them in the UK). And they meet and get along famously. From there it's a series of meetings and get-togethers with other friends that eventually leads to something more and I LOVED IT!

I'm a sucker for a good romance with an interesting plot and this certainly had that. I loved Triston. And Kat. And the rest of the gang, including the dog!

If you like a funny read with sex toys, romance and crazy friends then this would be the perfect read for you.

I am so sad I have finished these books,I want more adventures from them all! Yet again this was an amazing summer read, just a breezy read that tugs at my heartstrings.
This book has some of the best sex scenes I have ever read, there I said it.
I love the whole oh well nothing can go wrong here Isla finally has Josh who she has wanted FOREVER but wait oh...oh...OH....but how?! They can go back right I mean....OH...OH Isla you cow....no wait poor Isla I'm sorry...oh dear. This is just a few things my mind was screaming throughout this book. I found the lead up to the main part of the book a little slow, but keep with it and when you get there you will be wishing to get back to the happy bits!
This book doesn't just focus on Isla and Josh but her and her best friend Kurt, and her relationship with her younger sister Hattie. Of course some well known faces pop up which made me go all EEEEEK! and OOOOH! and AWWWHS! I just can't believe I have finished them I am absolutely gutted!

Dead Reckoning ( Sookie Stackhouse book 11)
By Charlaine Harris

With her knack for being in trouble's way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte's, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. Sookie suspects otherwise, but her attention is divided when she realizes that her lover Eric Northman and his "child" Pam are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, Sookie is drawn into the plot-which is much more complicated than she knows...

I think I ask myself the same question after every book! Why do I do this to myself? I’m not one for putting books or authors down but this series has nothing in it! It feels so flat! Book being 11 books in its kinda one that has to be finished! I have come to the sad conclusion that Charlaine Harris just can’t write sex scenes. Sookie is such a whinny drain no wonder everyone wants to kill her! Why does she draw all these men in I for one would never kick Alcide out of bed the silly girl!!

They Came From Within
Shivers- is a distubing, terrorfying, horrorfying, sci-fi film directed by David Cronenberg and it was Cronenberg's first featured film and what a way to start.

The plot: After a scientist living in a posh apartment complex slaughters a teen girl and kills himself, investigators discover that the murderer had been carrying on experiments involving deadly parasites. Roger St. Luc (Paul Hampton), a doctor living in the building, and his aide, Nurse Forsythe (Lynn Lowry), then realize that the parasites are on the loose, attacking fellow tenants. And those who become hosts turn into erotically obsessed maniacs who pass the bugs on through violent sex.

It was also known as The Parasite Murders and They Came from Within, and, for the French-Canadian distribution, Frissons). The original shooting title was Orgy of the Blood Parasites.

Shivers was Cronenberg's first feature film, and was the most profitable Canadian film made to date in 1975, but was so controversial that the Parliament of Canada debated its social and artistic value and effect upon society, because of objections to its sexual and violent content.

Its disturbing but a excellent film.
