Funny and heartwarming
So went and saw Shazam! last night and you know what I FREAKING LOVED EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT! Seriously it was funny, heartwarming and an all around amazing movie! I went in not knowing what to expect since Shazam! is the first superhero movie I've ever seen that I knew nothing about the character ahead of time. Definitely my favorite recent DC movie❤⚡? and that is saying something because I adored Wonder Woman and really enjoyed Aquaman. I'm really glad that DC movies finally seem to be finding their stride because it has been a long time coming.

Had read alot of mixed reviews for this movie but was open to giving it a try.First of all this is the weakest of all the DC movies so far for me (yes I even preferred suicide squad to this)
It had its moments and the humour at times was ok but there was alot that let this movie down.Mark Strong's bad guy was truly awful and was about as menacing as a chocolate teapot,zachary levi looked uncomfortable at times as shazam and as for the seven deadly sins gargoyles..just plain awful and hokey looking.

Spawn, Kick Ass and Don't Die
Shazam!- is the PG-13 verison of Kick Ass, Deadpool and Spawn. Mix all those movies together and you get Shazam!. A movie that has comedy, dark humor, action, suspense and viloence. In the end its trying way to hard to be the PG-13 verisons of Kick Ass. Deadpool and Spawn and in the end it just doesnt work. Its a good superhero movie, i give it that but it drags on for way to long than its supost to. Their are to many here's the end moments but nope its still going. What feels like the end its not, and goes on.
The plot: We all have a superhero inside of us -- it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In 14-year-old Billy Batson's case, all he needs to do is shout out one word to transform into the adult superhero Shazam. Still a kid at heart, Shazam revels in the new version of himself by doing what any other teen would do -- have fun while testing out his newfound powers. But he'll need to master them quickly before the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana can get his hands on Shazam's magical abilities.
Also you got the main actor who is not buff at all and put him into a buff suit, that also ruined the movie. It just makes him look buff but in reality he is not.
The comedy/humor is all over the place. It can be funny, serious or dark or even all three at the same time.
I give it this it is better then Man of Steel, Batman vs. Superman and Suicide Sqaud. I think Aquaman and Wonder Woman are better though.

Just what DC needed

I myself am a huge DC fan boy and over the past couple of years I have seen ups and downs with DC. Finally after Wonder Woman and Aquaman, DC has started to get back into the grove. I have always wanted DC films to be dark and gruesome but Shazam is something of a charmer. It's funny fresh and doesn't try to hard to be something it's not. The characters are brilliant and the Easter eggs throughout the film are brilliant and would make any DC fan scream with delight. It's a great story of an orphan child and the difficulties faced but seeing what a true hero can be is great to see!

A refreshing, and often humourous entry into the otherwise troubled DCEU

I went into Shazam! with low expectations, after not being particularly taken with the majority of past DCEU films.
I left feeling pretty positive about the whole goofy experience.
As with most DC material, the film starts on a fairly dark note, introducing us to a young Dr Sivana (a truly old school super villain, dating all the way back to the late 30s).
After a bit of back story as to why he gets all villainy, the movie wastes no time introducing us to Billy Batson (Asher Angel) and the rest of his foster family, and the movie succeeds in making all of the younger characters likable.
After a bit of comic book magic, we're eventually acquainted with the true power of Shazam!
Zachary Levi absolutely shines as he clearly relishes in playing this goofy, excitable teenager trapped in the body of a God. He bounces back and forth with Jack Dylan Grazer pretty well, and for the most part the relentless stream of jokes land nicely.
The film starts to waiver slightly towards the end, as the story hurtles towards a standard comic book movie CGI showdown, with a by the numbers comic book movie performance from Mark Strong, and some sketchy CGI cloud monsters, but it's hard not to grin with the surprise introduction of the Shazam! family (something I would surely expect from a sequel).
Shazam! also struggles at times to balance it's humour with it's more serious beats, but for the most part is an enjoyable origin story that the whole family can enjoy.

Very useful app
Shazam is pretty much as synonymous with identifying music as Google is to internet searching. Whenever you hear a piece of music you don't know, you automatically say "I'll shazam it" and it really works. There's only a rare occasion when it hasn't been able to identify a song and that is usually down to low volume or too loud background noise. It's so easy to use as well.
The only negative I can think of is the app itself has become a little too commerialised. I just want to know the name & artist of a song, yet now as well as this you get advertisements, options to purchase, YouTube videos, Twitter, other recommendations. I know this is how things are nowadays but for me it's all a bit too much.
