First series is the best series by far
Without a doubt, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman transformed the face of Sherlock, completely updating it for modern viewing. Sherlock is played to be on some kind of spectrum, which allows him to work out calculations at lightning speed. He's arrogant but hilarious and Watson is an absolute spellbinder of a sidekick. The bromance is beautiful. But the first series by far is the most coherent without going into odd tangents and storylines. Really worth the watch.

I loved this book!! It is heavily influenced by Sherlock Holmes (whom I love). Fans of Sherlock and classic detective books will love this book.
I love how short & sweet this book is, yet it is able to fit the full story in. Also, I am a big fan of books with short chapters. For some reason, it makes me read them faster, haha.
The plot and two main characters felt real.
I'll definitely be reading more of this author and this series. =)

Season 4 of CBS's 'modern-day' take on Sherlock (and a gerder-flipped Watson), again set in the US of A instead on in London.
Each season so far has had it's main 'focus' (for want of a better word): Sherlock himself, Moriarty, Mycroft Holmes, Kitty.
This time, it's Sherlocks father - Morland Holmes - who is the main focus of the series as a whole.
Well, perhaps focus is too strong a word: what I should, instead, be saying, is that more than a few of the episodes involve him and his various shady dealings!

Each season of CBS's 'Elementary' has had a through-line that runs throughout that season, usually sprinkled in between the 'case of the week' format.
This time around, that through-line is the serial killer Michael, who befriends Sherlock during a drug user meeting, and bases his recovery on what Sherlock once said: "my work gives me purpose".
For reasons I'm not going to go into, the season ends with, I thought, the perfect ending, with Holmes and Warson back where they belong in 221B Baker Street, London

Fans of Sherlock Holmes, fans of mystery, fans of adventure and suspense - this might be your next favorite book! Now, I have never read a Sherlock Holmes book before, so I can’t compare this book to the original books from Arthur Conan Doyle. But, what I will do for you is tell you all I thought about this book!
The story begins when during the funeral of Queen Victoria, a group of Irish separatists steal the Coronation Stone, on which every royal has been crowned. To retrieve this important object, the royals will hire Sherlock Holmes to solve the mystery. Holmes and his friend Watson travel to Ireland and try to infiltrate the Irish Republican Brotherhood, a group they think is responsible for all that happened.
Even though this is a Sherlock Holmes book, we actually unravel the story through a Watson-first-person point of view. He, to me, is a very interesting character, even though he follows Holmes like a puppy and doesn’t seem to have a personal opinion.
As for Sherlock Holmes, even though I really like the mysterious aura about him, and how smart he can be - I also see him as one of the rude aristocrats that refuse to speak to other people that seem to be lower in the hierarchy to them. This is of course, not presented in the book in any way - but I simply had that impression.
I loved the beginning, and I loved the mystery and suspense throughout the whole book. I was never ahead of the book, and my assumptions were never correct. I loved how the author kept us in the dark right until the end.
The small things I didn’t like though, were the slow pace - I have to admit, the pace was really slow for me, and I couldn’t wait until a chapter is finished to see if there would be more action. Then, even the action scenes weren’t as thrilling as I would expect them to be. And finally, there were no big plot twists, which I think we might have used in the book.
But - we did have a lovely mystery solving story, and we had a lot of history information floating around. We also had another book with Sherlock Holmes, that for you - lovers of the Sherlock Holmes books will of course be something you enjoy.
I greatly recommend it to you if you love the good old Sherlock Holmes adventures!

This film is the one thing a Sherlock Holmes film should never be - dumb
Sherlock Holmes is a versatile character. You can try drama, action, even comedy, but there is one thing a Sherlock Holmes film should never be: stupid. Unfortunately, that's right where this one lands. Will Ferrell is capable of doing intelligent comedy, though it doesn't happen often - just look at Stranger Than Fiction. I have every belief that this could have been good if they'd chucked the script out the window and started over. As it is, Sherlock Holmes comes off as a moron half the time, which could be an interesting take if they committed to it, but they don't. The result is a muddled vehicle for jokes about Donald Trump, selfies, and sexting via telegram. A couple scenes seem to be trying to do for (to?) Guy Ritchie's Holmes movies what Men in Tights did for other Robin Hood films, but even that falls short. I'm not going to tell you to avoid the movie like the plague - I'm sure SOMEONE out there will enjoy it. I'm just not sure I care to associate with that person.
