Murder by Moonlight
Freddie Archer is working as the nightlife columnist for Gotham Magazine in 1925 New York City. She loves her job, but things take a surprising turn when she runs into a boy she knows out on the street. She quickly realizes he’s in great danger trying to earn some money. Can she find a way to help him before it’s too late.
This is a short story designed to introduce us to the star of author Julie Mulhern’s new series. And it’s a good introduction. I really liked Freddie, and I’m looking forward to spending more time with her. The story was a bit simple, even by short story standards, but it was still entertaining. The story is currently free from the author’s newsletter. It took an hour or so to read. I’m looking forward to spending more time with Freddie, and after reading this story, I’m sure you will, too.

Book Divas (227 KP) rated Mama Graciela's Secret in Books
Dec 12, 2017
This is a perfect short read for bedtime. A fun story about Mama Graciela, her bacalaitos fritos (codfish fritters which everyone should eat as we here at home love to make them) and her many cats. The story is enthusiastic and I loved the illustrations. -YA/NA Book Divas

Erika (17789 KP) rated The Stranger In The Woods:The Extraordinary Story Of The Last True Hermit in Books
Jan 2, 2018
Normally, I love journalists writing non-fiction, but this was awful. I was completely annoyed reading this book, thank god it was a short one. It tells the story of the 'last hermit', and the guy was just not likeable nor compelling. By midway, I didn't care why he decided to be a hermit. That's when I should have stopped reading. But, I didn't. Overall: woof. I'm never reading anything by Finkel ever again.
Garthy (203 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) in Movies

Some new characters. (1 more)
A few good moments.
This was the fourth Star Wars movie, but the first in the storyline and you can see why they didn't bother starting off with this one as it's dull generally and a drag to watch. The story fails to encapsulate you and it falls way short in entertainment. (1 more)
I watched this when it first came out and I never wanted to watch it since!
The fourth film.......erm!
Dean (6927 KP) rated Machete (2010) in Movies
Apr 30, 2018
A great fun, action, bloody, Grindhouse B-Movie with an all star cast. Not heard much about this, apparently a follow up film from a short trailer from the Death Proof film. So imagine the likes of Sin City, Pulp fiction with a latin feel and tongue in cheek humour firmly in place. A pure fun, entertaining film not to be taken seriously. If you're a fan of Robert Rodriguez's films, you'll like it.
