Sarah (7798 KP) rated the PlayStation 4 version of LEGO Jurassic World in Video Games

Loads of fun
Having played Lego HP and been slightly frustrated about it, I hadn’t been expecting much from this. Especially as I didn’t realise that it contained all 4 films - I just thought it was the one for Jurassic World.

All I can say is I’m glad it has all 4 films. Although each film/level set is fairly short and doesn’t quite feature everything from the films, they’re still an awful lot of fun. I love the fact that it uses real dialogue from the films (sometimes randomly during a level which makes it even funnier) and the Lego versions of well known scenes are hilarious. The gameplay is a lot more action based and more interesting than the HP games, which makes it even more entertaining. My only criticism and this is being picky, is that the film plays down some of the darker elements especially of the first film. Whilst the lighter Lego alternative is pretty funny, part of me would have loved to see severed arms etc instead.

Battle at Big Rock (2019)

Short films are always hard to properly rate, especially as Battle at Big Rock is less than 9 minutes long!
But what we get here is a quick blast of dinosaur action that takes place soon after Fallen Kingdom, and revolves around a family on a camping trip, where they get stuck in the middle of two different dinosaur species fighting.

The short has a couple of cool shots as the chaos unfolds, and is a nice little appetiser for the upcoming third film in the Jurassic World trilogy, and it directly deals with the issue of dinosaurs living amongst us.

I would have given this a 6, but the awesome end credits sequence brings it up a mark.

Very short story (1 more)
It's very similar to the previous animated films
A big disappointment
I was really looking forward to this when I saw Netflix had a Resident Evil anime series coming out. It's such a shame though and a missed opportunity. Only 4 episodes long and around 22 minutes each episode. You have no real idea where this fits in timeline wise with the games, anywhere after the 2nd game basically. The storyline feels very similar to one of the extended anime films of Resident Evil, so not that original either. The animation is OK, close up scenes have a lot of detail. Other times it just looks like cut scenes from the games. Really hoped for better.

"I’ve not seen another film or work of art come as close to recreating that specific, intangible feeling of having a nightmare. “So I just cut them up like regular chickens?” Incidentally, the very short film David Lynch did with a Lumière camera, Premonitions Following an Evil Deed, is also on this disc, and it is a perfect thing . . . Somehow, this was the only one of his films I was ever compelled to ask him about."

Original Horror
A decent original take on a few Horror styles. Mixing GoPro POV, Haunted House in a claustrophobic setting. A big House in the bottom of a lake.
Rather low budget, not the best dialogue but the unique setting makes up for most of the films minor flaws. Not really scary, more atmospheric and claustrophobic. Pretty good for a low budget film.
Short scene after the credits.

Great supplement to the trilogy
This collection of short films, some of which were written by the The Wachowski Brothers, is a great set of stories as both prequel and supplement to the Matrix trilogy of films. They show various wars and clashes between humans and the robots they created to the basis of forming the Matrix itself which exists in the live-action version.

The animation is really bright and eye popping and reminded me of Ghost in the Shell or even Samurai Jack at times. Some of the stories were a little too close to the trilogy while others really went in their own direction. Others reminded me of other genre films including District 9 or even War of the Worlds.

I liked the fast paced style of animation in some and others let the stories develop a little more.

For those Matrix movie fans I think you would thoroughly enjoy this!

What?
Another poor attempt on the Street Fighter 2 computer game to live action. I originally thought this was a film but actually it's a short series, 2 hours 30 minutes in total.
Supposedely showing how Ken and Ryu learnt the same fighting style. There is so much potential for street fighter 2 films and stories, but so far including this odd offering they have all been really poor!
The wait for a decent street fighter 2 film continues... Hadoken!!

"In the early 30s, Gabrielle Chanel introduced Jean Renoir to Luchino Visconti, who would become his assistant director for several films. In the early 60s, Visconti connected Chanel with Romy Schneider. This short film, part of an anthology feature on morality and love with segments directed by other Italian masters such as Fellini and De Sica, focuses on a society woman (Schneider dressed in CHANEL) and her unfaithful husband. The production could be seen as an homage to the designer’s world."
