This is a short story that shows Taryn's POV of the events that took place during The Cruel Prince. This should be read after The Cruel Prince, but before The Wicked King.
I didn't like Taryn during the first book and honestly I hate her character even more after reading this. I was also disappointed that no new information was included. Instead the story just gives the reader a few more details about things that had already been established. It still a good story, but at $3 its a little pricey for what you get. Something like this should really only be $1. I like Holly Black so I don't want to call this a cash grab, but I was definitely left a little disappointed.

This story in Netflix is a true story account of a woman who was duped into going to a man's farm to work as a tutor for his son but was actually kept there as a slave and abused mentally, physically and sexually. The acting in this was pretty good and the film work was decent. The story was not fast paced but told A LOT in a short time. This was one womans account of what happened to her but the man had done it to many others. It was well told and would be of interest to those who like true crime documentary style movies. Nothing too graphic but the content probably isn't for kids. Worth a watch.

Since the first time I took S.J. Bolton’s book in my hand I cannot stop admiring her. Read all of her books and gladly continue doing so. They mesmerise me.It is extremely intriguing from the first pages of the book. The way it is written never gets you bored. I loved the different approach to telling the story via letters and news paper articles. It is perfectly blended together with the story of the book. The best thing about this book is that it is easy to read because chapters are short. The characters are very charismatic and interesting personalities. The story has great twists in it. Once you start reading it captivates you because every chapter invites you to find out “what next?”.

Yesterday, I saw the movie based on the series of short story collections that inspired future makers of horror. It affected me so deeply that I decided to skip a Rifftrax screening. The actual film collects multiple horror tropes: haunted house, creepy hallways, reanimated corpses, spiders, supernatural serial killer, books. Most of the stories startle, but never terrify. The creature designs are phenomenal. The ending is kind of a letdown after all the thrills. However, one story completely disturbed me. Not the story or the creature, but the style. It used a lot of anticipation and narrative, but never showed much of the horror. It just built up tension and had one huge scare leading to a horrifying "ending" for one of the characters.

As always Cathryn Fox delivers with her intricate storyline, erotica sex scenes, and endless wit. I havent read a Fox story to date that I didnt like and House Rules just adds to that long list. I didnt know this was the second in a series when I started it and I felt that I missed out on little nuances because of it. That being said, you can enjoy House Rules without having read book 1, Private Reserve, though I would recommend reading it as well. I know I am.
House Rules is a short erotic read with a hot hero and low key naughty heroine. My only complaint is how short it was!

One of the finest debuts of all time...
One of the finest debuts of all time, and thanks to John le Carré, a fine writer and real life secret service employee, one of the most realistic spy novels written.
Not only is this an excellent debut from le Carré, but an introduction to one of the greatest fictional spies, George Smiley, best known from "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy".
This may seem a strange one, but the book is quite short, which is a good thing. I enjoy books short and long, but this is excellent for some light reading, and the best place to start with le Carré's books is definitely at the start!

After X-Men origins I was worried when this announced as Deadpool had already been muted by Fox. Although after seeing the test footage and reading an early draft of the script I couldn't have been more excited.
This film does a really good job of introducing the character without a straight up origin story. The film is very short but the fast pace keeps you engaged and the jokes keep coming from the first second to the last.
It's one of the best superhero movies outside the MCU and better than some that are in it.
