Instead of giving a review for this film, which was great, I figured I'd give you all the message I wrote to my girlfriend after I finished the movie, to convey my emotional state and feelings.
I often wonder if they'll create a word in my lifetime that will be able to describe how wonderful you are. I feel like even an attempt would be fruitless, but that doesn't stop me from contemplating it. There are so many things that I need to tell you, so many sights that I need to see with you, so many mistakes that I need to make with you. Giving someone their all is proven to be one of the most difficult things for the human psyche to endure, yet everyday that is all that I wish to do. Whenever I see you, I feel as if I have burst through the surface of water and emerged to take a long exhale. You are my breath. When I see you, time slows and becomes my puppet. I treat it as I please and spin it in a way that maximizes the amount of living that I can achieve with you in the span we are given. I never labeled myself as a person of curiosity, yet you never fail to leave me on the edge of my seat during conversations. I am silent because I am anticipating every word that comes out of your mouth. I crave the tales you relay to me over dinner. I worry that at any moment someone will snap their fingers and it will break me from the allure of the trance you have entangled me in, or worse yet, I'll wake up in a cold sweat alone on a love seat somewhere i cannot remember. That's how delicate the beauty of your words are. Your eyes could pierce my heart in an instant and your smile could throw me into a catatonic state. It's not your attractiveness that does it, although you always look stunning, it's the stories behind your eyes and smile that do it for me. I know the wear and tear that constructs every one of those smiles and glances, which makes them even more vulnerable and valuable. Comparatively, I am but a meek and mere boy observing the greatness of one of the strongest and most determined women on Earth. And I couldn't be happier doing anything else but that.

One of the things I have grown to love about Rachel Morgan through all of these nine books is her constant positive and hopeful perspective with others, despite how contrary their behavior. Though her friends and partners are telling her in so many ways that the rulers of her kind, the witches' council, will never let her make it to the coast and are more interested in killing her than anything else, she won't believe it until she sees for herself. And then there is her odds-defying ability to always find a way to survive against all attacks - she truly has become one of a kind, as is revealed in several ways in this book, with her match-up against the just-released demon creation that is her genetic match, as well as the sad speech that Ivy gives her about how Rachel is leaving her and Jenks behind with the way she can create change across all species.
And if that is not enough to keep her busy, Rachel's love life only becomes more complicated, since Pierce has professed his love for her in the previous book, and Rachel feels a certain obligation to him. Of course, Al continues to pursue Rachel despite her refusals, and one violent-turned-steamy moment showed the kind of lust-filled potential that exists between them. Towards the end of the book, Rachel also makes a rather interesting observation about demons in general that could put Al in the potential category for future books. If two men is not enough to keep her busy, a very obvious growing attraction between her and Trent seems to show the most promise, and is ironically the one I found myself most rooting for, especially with some of the scenes in the book.
Trent's part in the book is an elf quest of sorts that he is particularly silent about, but gets him in all kinds of trouble and just creates more work for Rachel and crew. Of course, the outcome of this quest makes Trent more likable in the end, but he has to do much to prove himself to Rachel. The newest element to the series in this book was the use of wild magic by the elves, which has an untamed, old world quality that Rachel dislikes immensely. Trent wields it well, though often secretly and against Rachel's wishes.
In the end, the revelations that Rachel undergoes regarding herself and the people around her mark a major turning point for her and the series. I only wish I knew when the next book was due for release!

A book that speaks about feelings, and lack of them. Love and emotions. Art and passion. Psychology and memories. And how our childhood might define who we will become.
I have never felt such urgency to read another chapter as I have felt it with The Silent Patient. Such impatience, such excitement. It’s a feeling I wish I can get with all the books in my life.
ALICIA
Alicia Berenson writes a diary as a release, an outlet – and to prove to her beloved husband that everything is fine. She can’t bear the thought of worrying Gabriel, or causing him pain.
Until, late one evening, Alicia shoots Gabriel five times and then never speaks another word.
THEO
Forensic psychotherapist Theo Faber is convinced he can successfully treat Alicia, where all others have failed. Obsessed with investigating her crime, his discoveries suggest Alicia’s silence goes far deeper than he first thought.
And if she speaks, would he want to hear the truth?
I love these types of books. Besides the mystery and thriller, the psychological part was an incredibly well-put together piece of art.
The beginning of the story is nice and slow, but with a temptation in it, that makes you flip the pages so fast. A great world and character building, and great character hopping from Theo to Alicia, from chapter to chapter.
Even though we don’t get to have Alicia talking in the book, she says so much. All her movements, all her reactions, or lack of reaction is so well written. Her lack of speaking doesn’t stop her from moving the story forward, and being the main protagonist here.
On the other hand, we have Theo, who we see and get to know more and more with each chapter. A complicated character, with a cute oddness to himself, a characteristic I find with many psychotherapists. He is the person we see at the front of the screen, presenting himself in the spotlight, together with Alicia.
A well-written plot, with an amazing cliff-hanger and a wonderful plot-twist in the end. I didn’t expect it, and I am awfully satisfied of how the authors decides to conclude the book.
I enjoyed this book so much, and I recommend it to all the psychological thriller book readers here. Don’t miss this one, and get your copy today. It’s so worth it!
