Kindergarten dad
Workaholic Howard (Schwarzenegger) has been missing time with his son and wants to make things right with him and wife, Liz. promising to get Jamie the hottest toy of year, Turbo-Man. Although it's Christmas Eve and the toy is practically sold out, Howard is determined to get the gift he promised, during this quest, Howard meets Myron (Sinbad), another father on the same quest. With the clock ticking , Howard's moral code is tested as he starts to learn the true nightmare before Christmas (lol).
Great comedy and plenty of gags, a heartwarming story with a perfectly set tone and plenty of Christmas joy, this is a Christmas classic.

Dean (6921 KP) rated The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (2010) in Movies

Another solid film in the Narnia series. The first is my fave, as I know that story so well, the 2nd had some good battle scenes and a bit more action. This is entertaining but in a different way to the others. I found the new cousin in this rather annoying and it's a pity many of the characters of the previous films are not in it that much.
Otherwise it felt a bit like the Sinbad films for me, a great looking ship, plenty of creatures and traps and riddles to overcome before a big finale. The SFX are very good, especially for the green mist effects. Overall a great family adventure if not quite on the level as the first two in my opinion.

David McK (3219 KP) rated Arabian Nights Volume One in Books

"Arabian nights, like Arabian days,
more often than not
Are hotter than hot
In a lot of god ways …"
(Sorry, that's from Aladdin …)
Audible's full-cast dramatization of several Arabian folk-tales, this covers:
1) the set-up for the telling of the tales (Scheherazade telling her Sultan the tales each night so she won't be beheaded!)
2) the tale of Ali-Baba and the 40 thieves
3) Julnar of the Sea
While I was knew of the first and (more famously) the second above, I probably couldn't have told you the full ins and outs of the stories until now; only a general outline of what happened. I have to admit, also, that Julnar of the Sea was completely new to me.
Now to pick up Volume Two (Sinbad the Sailor) ...
