Had potential
This started off OK, a sort of Slasher film with a twist with the killer forcing victims to choose who to kill or be attacked. With a detective element to it as well. Katheryn Winnick of Vikings stars as a journalism student tracking the killer along with her dad as the local sheriff in a small town.
Just a shame it didn't reach its potential, not a particularly scary film. Seems to be stuck between genres without choosing which direction to go in. The second half of the film unravels without much drama to a rather tame ending. OK if you want a short film to pass the time.

Freaky (2021)
Freaky (2021)
2021 | Comedy, Horror
Freaky is an ode to 80's slashers by way of 'Freaky Friday', hence the title.

Blissfield has an urban ledged, the Blissfield Butcher, who strikes every few years at the school prom. Due to an antient Aztec knife, the Butcher swaps bodies with Millie, a high school girl who only has 24 hours to switch back.

Like I said, Freaky pay homage to the 80's, the obvious is the 'body swap' aspect and the title, both of which are references to 'Freaky Friday'.
The references don't stop there though, the film references most of the popular slashers, mostly through the weapons the killer uses, there's everything from an ice hook to a chain saw, there is even a quick nod to the Cenobites.

The film starts by following a lot of the slasher tropes, a small party and a killer. The film changes pace when Millie and the Butcher swap bodies and, until the end the kill count is relatively low. The slasher references run all through the film in a similar stile to 'Scream' and 'A Cabin in the Wood' even becoming slightly self aware with lines like 'Your Black! I'm Gay! We are so dead'. This doesn't/. take away from the film though.

Like i said, most of the kills are at the start and end of the film with most of the action being Millie trying to avoid being arrested whilst finding a way back to her own body but it is a good film and well worth a watch if you don't need your slashers to serious.

The premise. (1 more)
The mind games. Adds some suspense, even though you come to expect it since it’s the killer’s trademark.
The romance. Too much for this type of book. (2 more)
The identity was revealed too early.
The motive.
Overall, it was a fun, quick read. I wouldn’t call it scary, though.
I like a good slasher movie, and even some bad ones, but have come across few books with a similar story. So, I applaud this author for taking a risk and writing it, especially since this isn’t her typical genre. It kept my attention and I enjoyed it, even though there were a few things that bothered me.
I received an arc of this book through a giveaway by the publisher, giveaway was posted on Goodreads.

Deja Vu
I really enjoyed the first @Happy Death Day (2017) film which was a refreshing mix of Slasher meets Groundhog Day with a comic twist. This sequel is very similar, looks like it was filmed at the same time? This time round we have more of a SciFi theme to explain the time loop in both films. It's still fun but obviously not quite as original as the first offering. The whodunit element takes more of a back seat in this film.
Overall an enjoyable film but you really do need to see the first one before this. If you liked that then you won't mind the Deja Vu watching this.

Just bad
Just really bad. I stayed watching cause the basic premise s interesting. I get that this is not a AAA, big budget title, but it just doesn't get anything right. It tries to be a B movie slasher pic, but "violence" mostly takes place off screen. The plot has giant gaping holes, such as why on earth is this skanky night club pick pocketer suddenly like MacGyver? Nothing any of the characters say is believable, both because of the things they say and because they are horrible actors. Nor is this movie so bad it's good, a la Sharknado. Life is too short to watch garbage like this.

Not as good, but still worth it.
Michael Myers lives, he pursues Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) to the hospital. It's up to Dr. Samuel Loomis (Donald Pleasence) to stop him.

With this sequel John Carpenter served only as a producer, Rick Rosenthal stepped in to direct.
Halloween II still has good to it. The score is good, the acting is mostly good (especially Curtis and Pleasence), and Michael has plenty of screen time which is definitely a pro.

Unfortunately, Halloween II fails to recapture its predecessors suspenseful tone, there are some pointless deaths, and some death scenes are straight up cheesy, ruining what suspense what the film had.

Overall it's still an entertaining slasher, just not anything more then that.

"Normally if a movie doesn’t have a monster in it, I’m not interested. All I like are horror movies; but I don’t like slasher movies. To me, just seeing people getting hurt, that’s not entertaining to me. My favorite things of all time, they have to have a supernatural element to them, and there has to be a sense of romance to them, and an otherworldly quality that makes you feel like there’s more magic in life. So for me, my five favorite movies of all time are the ones I’ve watched over and over and over. Number one, just first and foremost my favorite movie of all time — The Mothman Prophecies, with Richard Gere and Debra Messing. Have you ever seen that?"

Story: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane starts with a teenage house party where one of the cool kids tries to hit on the beautiful Mandy Lane (Heard) but when one of the boys chasing her dies in an attempt to impress her we see how close Mandy is to Emmet (Welch). 9 months have passed since the accident and Red (Himelstein) is arranging a party at his family’s ranch which will include the invitation of Mandy Lane.

We watch as a group of high school friends head off to a ranch for a weekend off fun with plenty or drinks, drugs and sex with all the boys after Mandy Lane. We watch as the friend go through the traditional high school relationship issues and adding in the alcohol we get everything elevated to the next level. The weekend away takes twist when somebody starts picking off the friends before we learn that there is a bigger motive behind everything that happens.

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane really is just a bogged standard slasher film for the most part, but it does have an interesting twist you don’t see coming. The characters are very painful generic and the story just follows everything you would expect to see in a slasher film. The film tries something different with the ending which is the only positive about this film otherwise it really is just offer nothing new. (5/10)

Actor Review

Amber Heard: Mandy Lane is the gorgeous girl that all the high school guys want to be with but she is very independent not falling for any of the guys lines. She strikes jealousy between the friends who each believe they are in the driving seat to get her. Amber does a solid job in the role but clearly only works because of how beautiful she is. (6/10)

 mandy

Anson Mount: Garth is the ranch hand on the ranch that all the girls fall for but he ends up planning babysitter to all of the high school kids who can’t handle their drinks. Anson does a basic job as the older wise protector of the film but doesn’t do enough with the whole story. (4/10)

Whitney Able: Chloe is the insecure member of the friends who thinks all the girls need a perfect skinny body to impress the guys. Whitney does end up being the very generic character that we are all expecting to get what is coming to her early on. (5/10)

Michael Welch: Emmet is Mandy’s old friend who is the guy picking off the popular kids to make them pay for what happened after the party incident. Michael plays the killer well using no remorse through the film. (6/10)

Support Cast: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane has a supporting cast that is basically there just to be disposable and only become helpful to make Emmet look more crazed.

Director Review: Jonathan Levine – Jonathan does a solid job with the horror film because it follows the same old routine but throws you out of the comfort zone with the ending. (5/10)

Horror: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane follows all the slasher ABC style very easily. (8/10)

Settings: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane puts our characters in an isolated location for the horror to take place where the killer can get away with whatever they wants. (7/10)

Suggestion: All the Boys Love Mandy Lane is one for the horror fans to enjoy otherwise it will just end up being very average. (Horror Fans Try)

Best Part: Final Twist.

Worst Part: Nothing new in the opening part.

Believability: No (0/10)

Chances of Tears: No (0/10)

Chances of Sequel: No

Post Credits Scene: No

Similar Too: Most Slasher films.

Oscar Chances: No

Budget: $750,000

Runtime: 1 Hour 30 Minutes

Tagline: Everyone is dying to be with her. Someone is killing for it.

Overall: Just another slasher that we have seen too many times before.

Finally a ________er kill!!!!
SLASHER FANS REJOICE!!!!
Contains spoilers, click to show
Having seen this film in 2009 after a friend loaned ke his copy... Which i never returned... Because this movie is the "tits" ( watch Holliston to understand).
Epic performances from Joel David Moore, Dieon Richmond, Tamara Feldman and the always reliable killing machine, KANE FUCKING HODDER!!!!!
Sorry if I fanboy out about Kane... The man is a living legend of horror fandom. He is also one of the nicest, most genuinely thankful to his fans actor that i have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Anyways... Back to the task at hand.
Hatchet starts off strong... Never taking it's foot of the pedal for even one split second.
You may thibk to yourself before watching this, "Oh great. Another empty plotted excuse for bare breasted women get hacked to pieces... Big whoopity do!!!"
But, friends, let me reassure you... You will never see some of the kills in this movie done with this much love for the game attitude as the ones brought to film by the mind of Adam Green.
Seeing an annoying wifes head torn in half with someones bare hands... A face smoothed off with a fucking belt sander... And... Finally Kane gets his hands on Robert Englund and tears him limb from limb...
This is and always will be my favorite horror debut of all time.
Keep an eye out for Candyman himself Mr. Tony Todd as Voodoo Shop proprieter Rev. Zombie.
I can not say enough good things about this movie. Once you view it... You will not be disappointed.
Victor Crowley = Slasher God.
