Needing a new start, Trixie Matkowski has bought her aunt’s diner in upstate New York. Her first day at the new owner, someone poisons the health inspector by adding mushrooms to a family recipe. Who is trying to drive Trixie out of business?

This was a fun debut with a plot that grew as the book progressed. The characters were distinct, although they could be a bit better developed. I had some nitpicks with timing and how little sleep Trixie got, but they were minor. This was a fun series debut.

The Land of Reverse by David Manousos has a gentle tone with a soothing cadence to the words that suit perfectly for bedtime readings. The illustrations are a great accompaniment.

The story is about Sam who could not sleep one night. He let his mind wander to the Land of reverse. Everything Sam thought of in reality was backwards. Your hands are your feet, cars drive on the sidewalk, the animals in the zoo have the humans caged and feed them. Sam returns back to his bed happy and cannot wait to return to the Land of Reverse.

Familiar territory from Luc Besson but a rather fun little ride all the same . A glossy globe trotting tale of a beautiful blonde assassin (she certainly wasn't hired for her acting ability) with plenty of twists and double crosses to keep you guessing. Besson can do this sort of film in his sleep now and this is a huge drop in quality from the heady heights of the mighty 'Leon'and I would like to seem him getting back to doing something with a bit more substance than the crowd pleasing action movies he has been churning out these days. Still I was largely entertained here even if I probably wouldn't go out of my way to watch it again.

Sci-Fi romance starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence (with support from Michael Sheen and Laurence Fishbourne) as two travellers aboard an interstellar vessel, who awaken out of hibernation 30 years into a 90 year journey (I think those are both right) to their new home planet, with no means of getting back to sleep or of waking up any other passengers or crew.

What follows, then, mostly - of necessity - follows those two characters (and Sheen's android bartender), asking just what you would do in their circumstances? How would you live out your life?

Beautiful cinematography and some fancy effects, however, can not fully make up for (at times) as dull as dishwater and leaden pacing ...
