Gisell Middleton (189 KP) rated The Night Olivia Fell in Books
Jan 13, 2019
This novel was a slow burn. The alternating timelines and somewhat unreliable narrators were reminiscent of Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. However, throughout the story, you can’t help but become invested in these characters and their well-being. Although some situations and decision were frustrating and seemed to lack common sense, one could identify with the multiple roles and characters found in this book. At times I was the mother, the impatient and emotional teenager, the wronged boyfriend, the insecure best friend, the admirer, and many more. The need and desire to find out what happened will resonate with everyone and, in the end, the story will be just as satisfying as it was heartbreaking.

This book and the previous in the series, The Mark Of The Raven are both amazing and I Love them!
The characters are great, their development and the romance - and I usually am not big on romance, slow burn. The inner turmoil and fight with good and bad choices was fantastic. Well developed, great story and plot and everything. I cant wait to read the next book or maybe reread the first two again.
This series is reminding me so much of Muirwood series by Jeff Wheeler that I LOVE so much!
If you havent checked this out, Get on it! You dont want to miss these fab books!

Merissa (12674 KP) rated Frozen Flowers Fallen (Gen-Heirs World: Bella and the Beast Master) in Books
Jan 11, 2023
An intense, slow-burn romance with a dash of suspense that is absolutely brilliant!
FROZEN FLOWERS FALLEN is the first book in the Gen-Heirs World: Bella and the Beast Master series. It's a quick read that takes you back to Sziveria where Gen-talents are held so highly.
Now, I'm warning you now, I have loved The Guardians of Sziveria series so this review is probably biased! What can I say? You've already seen it's got 5-stars!
Bella is a clerk with no apparent Gen-talent, thus making her invisible and beneath notice to some of the Guardians around. However, Bella has a brain and isn't afraid to use it - so long as it doesn't put her in the spotlight. When Markus shows up, he is intrigued by this clerk who has put together more of a case than the Guardians he is supposed to be working with.
What follows is an intense, slow-burn romance with a dash of suspense, with the main two characters jumping off the page but fully supported by the other characters. The ending is superb but will definitely leave you wanting more.
I honestly can't wait to continue this series. What an absolutely cracking start! I need more of Bella, Markus, and Lunah in my life. HIGHLY recommended by me.

Merissa (12674 KP) rated Riding The Edge (KTS #1) in Books
Mar 15, 2021 (Updated Aug 2, 2023)
RIDING THE EDGE is the first book in the KTS series, and we start off with one helluva story! Dan and Ava had a 'moment' two years ago. Okay, the moment lasted for a week, but nothing since then as Ava firmly pulled up the drawbridge and made sure Dan couldn't climb her walls. Unfortunately for her, Dan is as stubborn as they come, and plays a long game, as he continues to worship her from afar. Add into that betrayal, families gone wrong, action, and all other sorts of craziness, and you've got a story to keep you enticed!
I love how Elise Faber writes. Her style is smooth and will keep you on the edge of your seat in all the right places. This is a slow-burn romance as it simply wouldn't work in the circumstances for anything else. And I loved that. I loved how she played it out, keeping them - and me - wondering what would happen next.
Although this is classed as book one, I do feel like I need Laila and Ryker's story, plus what's the down-low on Daniel? Honestly, I need more! And that, my friends, is the sign of a brilliant author and a greedy reader.
The last chapter leads you nicely onto the next book, which I cannot wait to read. If you like slow-burn romance with plenty of sass, then I can absolutely recommend this book, and I'm sure the whole series!

Molly J (Cover To Cover Cafe) (106 KP) rated Vicious in Books
Dec 30, 2019
Hotholes for the win! I absolutely loved every second of Baron “Vicious” Spencer and Emilia “Millie” Le Blanc’s story. From the start, Shen creates the angst beautifully. I didn’t like the way Vicious was with Millie in the beginning but I knew he needed to be that way for the readers to get the fully effect of his torture, his pain, his anger. I loved how Millie was with him. The slow burn between them in the beginning was amazing and enough to set my heart on fire. When Vicious realizes his feelings…..well, let’s just say I’ve never been so jealous of a character before as I was of Millie! This book is definitely worthy of all the stars! Vicious is MINE!

Andrew Koltuniuk (767 KP) rated The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) in Movies
Jul 3, 2020
*Sigh*. I wanted to like this movie. I really did. Like, I've tried sitting through it before, and I couldn't make it, but I figured, let's give it another go. And... I don't know... it just doesn't live up to anything. Everything about this movie is underwhelming. It's a slow burn, It's got pacing problems, I don't really care about any of the characters and the songs were pretty pitiful. I didn't really care for this movie and with all of the other Disney classics that are out there, this one just kind of falls by the wayside. Maybe it's a side-effect of seeing this as an adult, but I did not like this film. Tolerable at best, boring at worst.
