"In the early 30s, Gabrielle Chanel introduced Jean Renoir to Luchino Visconti, who would become his assistant director for several films. In the early 60s, Visconti connected Chanel with Romy Schneider. This short film, part of an anthology feature on morality and love with segments directed by other Italian masters such as Fellini and De Sica, focuses on a society woman (Schneider dressed in CHANEL) and her unfaithful husband. The production could be seen as an homage to the designer’s world."

"In the early nineties, when this was only available on video, I watched it over and over till my store had to throw it away. Sirk is fearless in his melodramas because he is so confident in what he’s got to say. No other director, in my opinion, makes such accurate criticisms of the myopia of our prejudices while fully and earnestly asserting that love is all we’ve got—even though we’ve set up a society in a way that totally suffocates it."

A fun frolic with the Gods of our time
Not my favourite Gaiman book but still a fantastic read. I love how he brings the idea of God's to life and explores the worshipping we partake in in todays consumer driven society.
As always the worlds he creates come alive in often painful detail. The characters are twisted and relatable and the darkness is punctured with laugh out loud humour.
Quick, easy and enjoyable trek through modern mythology.

A weepy number to end the weekend
This tale of love and loss takes us to the beautiful Island of Guernsey, where pig farmer Dawsey has been corresponding with Juliet. Juliet travels from London to meet the society that banned together over roast meat and literary greats, to fill the loneliness of the Nazi occupation of Guernsey in WWII. Juliet visits wanting to share their story, and instead shares their hearts and lives. A touching story of pain and healing.

With support from the likes of Robert de Nero which made think of a similar movie which De Nero did king of comedy. Anyway hod phoenix should get a Oscar nomination for his performance

Fantastic Movie with a Psychological Twist
Contains spoilers, click to show
This is a fantastic movie that at first seems like an anarchist story about the anti-capitalism of American society. While it is very much that it is equally a story about someone who is slowly losing their mind. While the twist is certainly a surprise the first time watching it is still fantastic to see it all again on a rewatch. Rewatching this movie brings a new perspective on the Narrator's slow descent into madness.
