Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Academy of Assassins (Academy of Assassins, #1) in Books

I enjoyed this a lot more than i expected
Initially, it took a little getting into with its slow start but once it kicked into gear I was hooked. It had everything I love in a book. Some action, some romance, a bit of attitude from the female lead... I'm really surprised by how much I enjoyed it after several failed YA Paranormal reads before this.
I cannot wait for book 2!

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Red Hill (Red Hill, #1) in Books
Jan 7, 2021
I was struggling with this before I put it "on hold" and after reading a few reviews of the book on here I've realised that as much I quite like zombies books--as long as they feature some romance--that this is quite lacking in that respect as the characters don't end up meeting until near the end.
As I've mentioned in other reviews I read a book for the romance aspect and it seems like this is sadly lacking.
DNF @ 21%

Lindsay (1760 KP) rated A Sensible Arrangement (Lone Star Brides #1) in Books

I was surpised in the way this was set up. Though I am not all for it. It was good. There some things that is relates to romance. I would not to be hard on the rating. I think it a four star rating. It could have been more of a plot. It does have some mystery to it. It is a good book. I enjoyed it. The way she lost her husband was something new.

This was a fun book to read and it had some different twists on the typical romance. The characters were well developed and all fit together. I need to read some of the authors previous works since I loved the characters so much and apparently they are intoduced in earlier works. I would classify this as a good beach read since it is not heavy topics but it is not fluff either. It is just a well written story.

Merissa (12894 KP) rated Witchy, Witchy (Spellbound Trilogy, #1) in Books

This is a light-hearted story about magic with a side interest of romance. The story and relationships in the book flow very naturally but don't expect everything to be straightforward! There are some twists and turns in this book, some that are explained and some that aren't. This book drew me in from the start and the time passed very quickly whilst I was reading it. Very enjoyable both as Young Adult and as a Paranormal. Further books in this series are now on my wish list.

Becs (244 KP) rated Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft in Books
Oct 2, 2019
Overall, this was a great read. Some parts were completely terrible while others were absolutely fantastic. I would only reread parts of this novel as certain stories are better than the others but all in all, it’s a 4 star read.
Type: Stand-alone/ multiple short stories contained in one book
Interests: Witchcraft, Short Stories, LGBTQ+, Romance, Family, Multiple POV’s.
Point of View: Multiple of different characters
Audience/ Reading Level: 14+ as there are some serious scenes that are a bit more mature.

Cosmic Cabaret: Science Fiction Romance Anthology
Cosmic Cabaret is an anthology of science fiction romance stories that all take place upon the LS Quantum. Each story is individual, with separate characters and situations.
This is an AMAZING anthology. You could even say it was out of this world! (Sorry, it had to be done!) Some of the stories involve insta-love, some of them have loved from afar for years. Some are people on the run, some are princes and princesses, some are both prince/princess AND on the run. What I'm trying to say is that there is something here for everyone.
Each story is very well written, with characters and situations that are completely relate-able, so long as you keep the sci-fi theme fresh in your mind. From doctors to spies to male dancers to Burlesque dancers, this anthology has it all. I didn't feel like a single story let it down, although I do obviously have my favourites. I have found some new (to me) authors that I will be reading more of, which is always a good thing. Absolutely recommended by me, and I'm hoping for more to come!
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Hooked from the start.
I picked this book up on a whim over the Christmas holidays and couldn't put it down. Not only did it have some amazing points of romance that I love it was an amazingly different from any other books I have ever read. It grips you from cover to cover.
