Peter G. (247 KP) rated Apostle (2018) in Movies
Jun 5, 2019
Not bad at all horror that somehow made it under the radar and shamefully never got a cinema release.
It's very much in the vain of "The Wicker Man" but in my opinion it's superior, with a story filled with dread and genuine shocks that sometimes make it a difficult watch, stick with it though and you are rewarded with a decent addition to the horror genre.

What the hell am I watching?
I expected it to be weird because it's directed by Guillermo Del Toro but I was still surprised at how weird it is.
An amphibian man is something of general fantasy, but a mute cleaning lady who falls in love with the amphibian man is obscure.
However it does have a structured storyline, and brilliant cinematography.

A cinematic masterpiece of dark dingy intelligence
I love this movie even if it's hard to watch sometimes. I first saw it in the theater still drunk from the night before and my mind was blown in a very unforgettable way. But upon many sober repeated viewings it's still a brilliant film.

Anthony Trombetta (3 KP) rated Patriots Day (2016) in Movies
Mar 23, 2018
Storytelling in the Raw
The Director, Peter Berg, has always done his due diligence in providing the most accurate means of storytelling when it comes to films based on real events, however harsh or offensive they might be. Patriots Day can fill you with anger, sadness, joy or hope, sometimes all at once, which is precisely the task of the director and crew....feeling.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated Oh Danny Boy (Molly Murphy Mysteries, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Molly's sometimes boyfriend Daniel is arrested for police corruption, which is crazy despite the evidence against him. Molly, naturally, tries to clear his name. This book is great for characters development of both Molly and Daniel not to mention a great mystery.

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Love Without Limits (Pink Bean #7) in Books
Jun 26, 2018
Harper Bliss does an amazing job creating emotional and great characters. Reading her Pink Bean books is like meeting up with old friends. I will say this one caught me a little off guard but sometimes it is good to come out of your comfort zone. As Jo learns in this installment of the series. It was a bit eye opening to say the least.

Joe Julians (221 KP) rated Breaking In (2018) (2018) in Movies
Jun 20, 2018
Full review:
A sometimes effective home invasion thriller, Breaking In gets by on the strength of Gabrielle Union who delivers a powerhouse performance out of a script that needed more work. Billy Burke is the best of the bunch when it comes to the villains, but this is largely a movie that deserved to be better than it ended up.
