" I’m very lucky because I do it at the BBC, so there are no advertisements, and I’m allowed to choose all of the music myself and invite people in to interview them. For instance, there’s a group of girls called Stealing Sheep and I quite like their records, and there’s a label called Clay Pipe Music that releases really nice, short-run albums, often kind of pastoral sounds, sometimes electronic stuff. I can really just make the show two hours where I share stuff that I like with people. I love doing that."

"A powerful journey through despair and silence. A magnificent reflection on death and the meaning of life, as well as the ways life sometimes unveils its beauty—by, say, the taste of cherries that have fallen from a tree, a tree shaken by a man who was planning to hang himself on one of its branches but who remembered, when savoring these wild berries, that life is worth living. Long single takes, car scenes (for which Kiarostami is famous, and rightfully so). A gem. Must see. Now, please."

"Directors going independent to make precisely the film they want was not begun — as we sometimes think — by the latterday Johns (Cassavetes and Sayles). After World War Two John Ford formed an indie with the legendary producer (war hero also) Merian C. Cooper: Wagon Master was the lovely result, a film that seems like folk art. The stirring score and brilliant diagonals of Ford’s composition greatly inspired us in the Barcelona edit room — though I’m not sure if any trace of that influence could be found in our film."

Sometimes the character swapping is a tad confusing (0 more)
Having read all of Giovanna's books I thought this was worth giving a go. I was really pleased I did. Although not targeted for my age range, it was still a really solid book and I would recommend it to anyone. The fact that they both wrote the book is wonderful and you can tell who wrote what, which I like because it gives the book more character. The story is interesting and I cant wait for the next one.

Sometimes it just all comes together for a singer and a song. Evangeline reminds us of Ark, with a similar feel for catchy harmonies and a gorgeous voice, but the guitar pocket here is very old-school, and it sounds like a mix by Daniel Lanois. It just all melts together like a plastic toy in the sun.

Some really deep and percussive bass synth keeps this one right on the money.

Lydia Evangeline is based in Brighton, UK, you might know her as half of acoustic rock duo Wayward Daughter.

My All-Time Favorite Movie
The non-linear timeline that this film employs is a favorite of mine. I'm a huge fan of this in most movies that I watch and enjoy Tarantino's use of this in several of his movies. This one really stands out to me personally and is my #1 movie. While the violence can sometimes seem a little extreme to some people that watch Tarantino's movies I personally think the absurdity that he employs in it makes it almost comical and makes me enjoy it even more.
