I thought the premise of this sounded really stupid which is why I decided to read it. In the end the plot was actually really interesting and definitely a little jibe at the youth of today, myself included sometimes.
I enjoyed the story and I liked the way it was presented, something a little different to pretty much everything I've read recently. My only problem is that when you segment a story in this way it almost feels like some of the story is dropped and you miss some part of the plot that could have been interesting, eg who was freaky Farnsworth? Who was sexed up Noah? These were all things I wanted to have a little more background on. Farnsworth in particular, as it seemed all he was doing was helping give us some background info to the phone, but nothing else...

Twistedly beautiful
This series is very refreshing. Weird and sometimes strange but like a guilty pleasure nonetheless leaving you wanting more! With storylines and characters so twisted and peculiar it leaves you totally mind boggled. And just so you know tate Langdon is sinfully delicious (just saying!) I have progressed to series 3 so far so I have a lot to catch up on (I know! Don't give me that judging look) ? but I will say from what I've seen, if you think the first series isnt enough to keep you up all night binge watching episodes like its going out of fashion. Just you wait! each following season gets better and awesomely shocking! your brain will start to wonder "wait... Did my eyeballs just see that!?" two thumbs up and two big toe wiggles from me thoroughly recommend to anyone who revels in not being normal, well because normal people scare me of course ?

An interesting slow burner
When I first started this book, I was unsure what to make of it as the writing style seemed a little odd. However I soon got into it and it's actually a very interesting read. It's definitely a slow burner, there isn't a massive amount of action and it takes it's time getting to the conclusion, but this isn't a bad thing.
The main characters are well developed, although I'm not sure how you're meant to feel towards them. I can't say I warmed to Dominika, but maybe that's the point? The plot itself is interesting and although there aren't any massive surprises, it's good enough to keep you reading regardless. My only criticism would be the ending, as it felt a little disappointing. It is probably a more realistic ending than what id hoped for, but sometimes fantasy is a good thing, especially in such a serious and dark novel.

A couple of days before Christmas, Kinsey is asked to investigate a fire for the insurance company she sometimes works for. Everything looks routine until she is called in to defend her findings and sees pages that were not part of her original file. Afraid she might find herself accused of insurance fraud, she starts investigating the situation. But is she the target or an innocent bystander?
I truly enjoyed this book since it starts out with a great mystery that doesn’t involved a murder. Of course, when murder does enter the picture, it only gets more compelling from there. What few supporting characters there are in the series are mostly missing thanks to the Christmas time frame, but I found it a great way to develop Kinsey more, and the new characters were fabulous, doing their job as suspects perfectly.

I had a really hard time getting into this novel. The fact that it is fifth in a series, and I had not read the previous four, bothered me but it might not have been so bad had the author put a bit more background into the characters, often imposed without rhyme or reason, whom it felt we should already know and be familiar with. Many previous events from other novels were also referenced often which I felt was akin to joining a conversation, which had already been going on for a very long time, halfway through. The book was a bit sluggish for a large part of the story, finally hitting its stride about 3/4 of the way in. I wasn’t crazy about the cadence of the writing and sometimes it was difficult to discern who was speaking or how many people were part of a scene. Many of the situations lacked insight and seemed incredibly far fetched.

I don't know where I'd be without my Google Maps app - literally, I'd probably still be driving round Wigan trying to get home from soft play 3 days ago haha! It's invaluable, when trying to find a specific address, or an ATM in an unfamiliar place.
Recommendations for places to go when you're in a new place can be so helpful. Similarly, the time estimates for arrival at the destination are excellent; far more accurate than previous GPS/Sat Nav type apps and devices I've used, as are the information on incidents and accidents on the route.
I only wish it could be easier to try to get a detour; sometimes you can end up stuck in a loop trying to get around a temporary road closure, meaning you need to pull over and amend the route manually. Of course, there will always be limits to what technology can do, and this really is an outstanding app.

The people in this movie do and it pretty messed up. I love David Cronenberg and all his body horror films and also the deeply provocative and sometimes controversial subject matter in his films; however, this one seemed just a bit too random and out there for me.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a great steamy sex scene in a film as much as anyone, but this movie seemed like a never-ending stretch of handjobs and random nastiness for no reason whatsoever.
The characters were not even that interesting in that all they wanted to do was grope, suck and fuck each other just for the turn on of being around a crashed car and that didn't really make any sense.
Do yourself a favor and watch Naked Lunch or Videodrome instead.

I enjoyed this novel, it is set from the vantage point of Jack, a five year old boy who is being kept prisoner with his mum in a garden shed which her kidnapper has converted into a special soundproof 'room'. Jack was born there, so his mother's frustrations on their situation goes over his innocent little head until around halfway through the book when he realises that Old Nick is a bad person. Still, he doesn't understand why. He has a very cute way of anthropomorphising his surroundings, his Rug, and Meltedy Spoon take on characteristics of their own. The only thing that let this book down is that it is sometimes hard for the reader to imagine it is actually a little boy speaking, as some complex feelings and emotions are expressed which are hard to imagine would be understood by a child. I guess though, that an adult writing as a child must be hard so the author must be given some leeway.

Shudder exclusive 'ruin me' runs a similar line to 'Fear Inc' or 'Hellhouse LLC', with a meta horror experience blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
The cast is a mix of early 2000s tropes, the goth couple, the chubby film nerd, the silent loner etc on a slasher themed survival weekend where events take a turn for the bloody.
They twist and turn a few times, toying with the viewer using an unreliable narrator, our protagonist Alex, whom you aren't ever really sure is in the real world.
Not much will surprise you, but it is a fun trope laden film with no real pretence of being anything other than it is...a low budget meta slasher.
Not a bad 90 mins though, and it's watchable enough so long as you don't mind the sometimes clunky humour and meta elements getting front and centre.

Great special effects!
This review is going to be very simple. Because this is a simple movie.
Sometimes, you just want to see a "I don't have to think about anything, and I can still be entertained" movie. This is one of them. I mean, it's based on a video game with the same idea. Just smash! Three giant monsters, smashing a city. Some silly T.M.N.T. backstory about a mutagen changing an albino gorilla to a white King Kong. And then "Let them fight!" That's it! It's held together by Dwayne Johnson & the others in the film. To be honest, I don't even remember who's in the movie with him. But it doesn't matter. The film is fun. Maybe a little intense for little kids. But some days, you just want to sit back & watch some great special effects & big things crushing little things. When that happens, here's a film for you.
