Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
2008 | Drama, Romance
Not quite the sugar coated feel good film I was expecting. It's quite dramatic and gritty in places but I think that makes the harshness of the situations the characters find themselves in and what they go though in their life time more realistic. This makes the film better overall. Very well directed, a great story some great child actors and a fine soundtrack produce a film everyone will enjoy and be drawn into! Jai ho!!!

Sorry didn't like or enjoy the music, listened to the soundtrack first to see if I wanted to go and see the movie as I had heard a lot about it, actually gave up after several songs as didn't motivate me or even want to listen to more, so will not be going to see the film - well might watch it when it comes out on the film channels so that it will be relatively free to watch.

Although not set in modern day, it could easily show the issues of right now. The way mental health is dealt with showing budget cuts and the lack of support leading to a crisis. The riots also show the unhappiness of many in the status quo. Great soundtrack that fits well with the cinematic experience.

2019 | Action, Thriller
Ryan Reynolds starring Michael Bay movie, with Ryan as a billionaire who has faked his own death and is now leading an undercover team of vigilantes - each of whom has also faked their own death - in order to take down a brutal dictator.

As it's a Michael Bay film, you know pretty much what to expect: lots of action (choreographed, admittedly, to some nice soundtrack) but with little coherence!

At least Ryan Reynolds looks like he's having fun ...

"Ennio Morricone’s use of color with sounds was very dramatic and brave. The textures are very vivid, and they create a mood that is harsh but also very dreamlike. “I heard the soundtrack before I saw the movie, and then when I saw the film it made even more sense. But the great thing is that the music can stand on its own. You can absorb it as just music, which is probably the best thing about it"

"Beauty and the Beast may be tenuous and delicate where Eyes Without a Face is overripe and pulpish, but these films are gorgeous, dark poems about fragility and horror. Both fables depend on sublime, almost ethereal, imagery to convey a sense of doom and loss: mad, fragile love clinging for dear life in a maelstrom of darkness. The clash of haunting and enchanting imagery has seldom been more powerful. Eyes Without a Face boasts an extraordinary soundtrack too!"
