"Obviously that's a great soundtrack, and also my favourite blaxploitation film. I kind of remember growing up [thinking] blaxploitation films were silly, like I remember, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, but then once I started getting into them, I was like, oh wow, they are really political movies that don't really exist any more, and what I wanted to highlight was the score by J. J. Johnson. He's pretty much up there with Quincy Jones, but I would love to see a biopic about someone like that who has this really long career spanning from bebop and going to Hollywood and starting to score for blaxploitation films towards the end of his career. These guys are just genius arrangers, composers, players, and while their struggle was within the Hollywood system, it's not like it was a face you know from a college dorm poster like Miles Davis or something - it could be played by anybody you know."

"I had a friend at school that was just as obsessive about music as I was. He was a huge New Order fan. He lent me a really badly taped cassette of Script Of The Bridge. At first I thought it was too dangerously close to prog rock. Around that time, I think I'd just gone to sixth form… What was great about that was meeting people of a like mind. But the place where I came from was a typical Northern small town. I think the idea was probably dawning that there was nothing there and I didn't really belong. I was stuck in my own world with no outlet for it. I spent a lot of time just wandering around and thinking about stuff, and that was the soundtrack to it really. Pissing it down in the North on dark evenings. It sounds like rain in the north-west to me now. I dunno what's good about that."

Summer Camp Slasher
Part 2 set mainly in '78 largely serves to give a back story of how one of Shadyside's residents previously survived the curse of the Witch. So we get a Slasher film that follows the old Summer Camp setting that was popular back in the day.
While again it does very well to set the scene for '78 with the Fashion, Music to give it the right vibe for the era. It takes a little while to get to the Horror side of the film. It doesn't have the energy of the first installment or sense of urgency. Gore fans should be happy though and in terms of the story around the curse of the Witch this continues on well from the first film.
Overall a good second installment similar in style to the first and one horror fans will enjoy.

Gorily average
You can't beat a good old B movie, and VFW certainly has the makings of one, however it's a shame that it's nothing we haven't seen before.

This has a great B movie feel throughout, from the atmospheric soundtrack to the retro and dark cinematography, as well as the ridiculous over the top gore (which is by far the best thing about this film). It has a seriously good old school cast and watching them in action is a lot of fun. This has such a Hobo with a Shotgun vibe that I'm surprised that it hasn't been made by the same people. The biggest problem with this is the plot and the whole idea in general. Films like this have been done so many times before and even with all the gore thrown in it's nothing original. But I suppose overall it is still a fairly entertaining romp with some laugh out loud deaths.
