"The adventures of the Gumbeaux Sistahs continues. Five, fiery southern women wage wars against their unique problems using their improbable friendships, hilarious evil-genius schemes, strategy sessions with oh-so-many cocktails, and a shared passion for good gumbo."

"One of the most amazing books I ever read was The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter. McCullers was southern, and I’m southern. I wonder how much a non-southern person can appreciate some of the nuances that I consider very specific to that part of the country. In the subtlest, most unconscious ways, I’m able to get her description of, I don’t know, humidity in a way that somebody who lives near the Great Lakes will never really know. It was published when McCullers was, what—23 years old? I was still taking hour-long naps when I was 23. How remarkable that she had all that talent at her disposal at that age."

So easy to download before a journey and then just slip in your earphones and the journey passed by and if delayed, can just relax and wait for the bus!

Old school southern blues rock
As far as bluesy southern metal albums go, this is a corker.

Sweet Mountain River is my favourite song on he album as it is such a dirty blues song. I love it.

It’s a great album for driving to and also for part of your summer soundtrack.

The vocals are exceptional and the tightness of the keys, guitars and drums make it a well produced album.

If you like bluesy metal bands like Clutch, Black Stone Cherry, etc. then you will love these guys.

Rolling Stone's 309th greatest album of all time
Excellent album, including the superb anthemic Fortunate Son and a number of other songs in a similar vein. Great introduction to the band and a great example of 70s Southern rock.

"Okay, Steel Magnolias. I have six aunts, and they’re all like my mom, and they’re all insane, but in a good way. That movie makes me think of them. And I’m also Southern, so it’s like, “Mmm, I get it.”"

"This is McCullers’s most vicious and finest work, though I love all her work. The narrative stars a closeted army captain on a Southern military base, and a surrounding cast of depressed, outrageous, flamboyant, and cruel characters, or rather, people."
