Plague of the Shattered ( The Gateway Trackers 2)
By E.E. Holmes
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When a spirit Shatters, no one is safe...
Once every five years, the Northern Clans of the Durupinen gather at Fairhaven Hall. There at the ancient castle, surrounded by the very spirits they are bound to protect and serve, the clans settle disputes and shape the laws that govern the Gateways to the spirit world. For the first time, Jess and Hannah Ballard have to represent their clan. It is an awesome responsibility—a great honor… and they are sure it’s going to be the most boring week of their lives.
Oh, how very wrong they are.
For something dangerous is stalking the halls of Fairhaven. It lies in wait, striking down victim after victim, undetectable and inescapable. No one knows what it is, or what it wants, but one thing is clear: no one is safe until it is captured.
As their fellow Durupinen fall victim one by one, it will be up to Jess and Hannah, the newest members of the Trackers, to solve the mystery before the entirety of the castle is possessed.
I’m so happy she decided to write this follow on series. I really enjoyed this one. Was great catching up with characters even those I grew to hate. Looking forward to more. Jess and Hannah are set to prove those that doubt them wrong again.

The short stories in this are brilliant. There were a few that I ended up skipping (mainly just because I didn’t get along with the style of them) but I did read the majority of the short stories.
My favourites were by Jenny Han, Rainbow Rowell and David Levithan. They were all so festive and really got me in the festive spirit.
I also love the binding of this book! The page edges are a bright pink which is completely my colour! I also love hardbacks that have a bookmark in them – they are lifesavers!
I can’t believe that a collection with as many big names as this actually exists! I was in heaven while reading it!

Adorable Spirits (2 more)
Rotating board
Variety in play styles
Imbalance between spirits (2 more)
Can get clogged up and reduce action potential
Scoring can be weird
Kami-sama is an adorable area-control game all about putting shrines down in certain patterns to score. Each player has a spirit with various Powers that range from blowing shrines around to flipping a coin to get a special effect. Easy to learn and the various spirits makes every game different. I found this game plays best at 3 as at 2, it requires an automata and at 4 the board can get a little crowded for some spirits. The spirits are mostly balanced, but some definitely feel weaker than others.

In order to stop riots and rebellions across the country the monarchy organises a selection of women from different social classes (ordered by number) to compete to marry the crown prince. America is a singer, a woman of a lower class above only manual labourers, slaves and the homeless. Her large heart, rebellious spirit and social class endear her to both the prince and the people however the king sees her as a threat and will do everything in his power to get rid of her.
