Great!
This "whodunnit" was a surprisingly spirited and fun watch. I thought it would be a spoof of old school mystery movies but it wasn't. The acting was phenomenal and the cinematography spot on. Everyone played their characters wonderfully and the story unfolded beautifully. Some of it was predictable but it had plenty of twists and turns throughout the entire film and kept you guessing until the end.I highly recommend watching it. While younger kids may not understand all of it, it's a movie the whole family can enjoy. REALLY worth a watch!

A brilliant sci fi comedy
I initially slept on this, and didn't watch it for a really long time, and I'm so sorry I did! It's the perfect spoof of Star Trek, while also being it's own, brilliant story, which is surprisingly in-depth.

If you're a star trek fan, it's excellent... If you're a science fiction fan, it's also excellent. Basically, just watch it, and enjoy.

By Grabthar's Hammer you won't be disappointed. šŸ˜

Mars Attacks! (1996)
Mars Attacks! (1996)
1996 | Action, Comedy, Sci-Fi
Lavishly camp black-comedy sci-fi extravaganza. Motivated largely by their innate gittishness, Martians attack the Earth (the clue is in the title), and various people naturally respond in their own personal ways. Much property damage and rather dated mid-90s CGI result.

One of those bizarre mutants that should never really have got past the script stage, let alone received a $70m budget: the release schedule inevitably resulted in it being hailed as a spoof of Independence Day (hard to spoof something that wasn't meant to be taken seriously in the first place), but this is much more a send-up of classic 50s sci-fi B-movies (various spot-on parodies), as well as being a startlingly subversive black comedy. You can also sense Burton trying to do his version of Dr Strangelove, with Nicholson in a multiple role, but it doesn't have anything like the same sharpness or impact. A bit patchy overall - some laugh-out-loud moments and game performances, but also a lot of dead wood and characters and jokes that just don't work. On the whole, though, the fact that films like this still get made suggests hope is not yet lost for the world.

Best super heros show in a long while
I have to say when i looked at the pictures and trailer for this show i thought it was going to be a spoof superheros show. However i was very wrong. This show is brilliant and dark and full of real world problems being adressed in a brilliant way. Ive always been a marvel girl over Dc so i actually knew nothing about this coming in. I have to say its a refreshing change of pace. I am loving this series so far and if you havent seen it yet i would say its a must watch.

A murder mystery that will leave you dying of laughter!
Even though this film was made in the early 80's, the combine comedic talents of Don Knotts and Tim Conway make this movie a must see. Fans of the two stars will love to see them spoof murder mysteries; while others who do not know of the 2 comedians will come to appreciate their type of humor. So if you love to find out 'whodunit'...join 'The Private Eyes' as they scream their way to laughter to solve the ultimate crime ever!

Will make you Scream.... For one reason or another!
A gave this a whirl as the cast was impressive and a fan of Slasher films. This is a very bizarre series definitely more at the comedy side than horror. Featuring true Scream Queen Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts of @Scream 4. Almost like a spoof at times. Try thinking of a mix of Clueless, Mean Girls, Scream and Scary Movie. The spoilt rich kid humour won't be for all but the Killer wouldn't look out of place in a real Slasher film and there are a variety of ways he bumps off the brats.

"This is the kind of film I love mostā€”the kind Iā€™m never really comfortable recommending to anyone. I can totally picture someone saying, ā€œItā€™s awful,ā€ and Iā€™d be like, ā€œYeah. I see that.ā€ Like, why is it so funny? And why, despite the constant sillinessā€”an effete, vegetarian, sulky Dracula; Joe Dallesandro as a he-man socialist Brooklyn peasant; the jokes about finding young ā€œwirginsā€ā€”is the overall effect so mournful and lonely? I think the answer has to do with the way the film never telegraphs its intentions. It modulates between horror, satire, spoof, porn, and tragedy, but imperceptibly. To catch the changes, you have to be in the flow of the movie, enthralled by itā€”and then everything works."

One of the best of Woody Allen's early pure comedies. Allen (basically playing the same character as always) wakes up in 2173 and is recruited by rebels seeking to bring down an oppressive totalitarian regime.

Simply a very funny film; a much more visual comedy than you would expect from Allen - I have seen suggestions that the whole thing is intended as a homage to Benny Hill - but there are the usual one-liners (also a few slightly dodgy stereotype-based jokes). Very much a spoof of late 60s/early 70s SF movies like THX-1138 and 2001; the SF content is surprisingly solid courtesy of uncredited script consultancy from Isaac Asimov (this may well be the first SF movie to deal with the concept of cloning). Worth watching just for the sequence with the banana and the chicken.

Holmes and Watson (2018)

2018 | Adventure, Comedy, Mystery
Almost incomprehensibly bad comic spoof of Sherlock Holmes that - despite the presence of many talented and genuinely funny performers - still manages to be totally lacking in laughs, wit, or anything much in the way of entertainment value. Serious adaptations of the original stories - hell, the original stories themselves - all managed to be much funnier than this.

General tone of self-satisfied knowing stupidity; lazy jokes about Donald Trump, selfies, people texting dick pics, etc; much-too-late-to-the-party spoofing of the Guy Ritchie Holmes films from nearly ten years ago. I'll go and see just about anything but it took a sustained effort of will not to walk out of this film. 2018 may have departed but this film lingers on in its wake like the stench from rotting carrion. For pity's sake, avoid.

Lavish musical-comedy spoof. Humble carnival entertainer Hubert Hawkins (Kaye) infiltrates the court of evil king Roderick as his new jester, in an attempt to get the rightful heir back on the throne, little suspecting that the man he's impersonating is the deadliest assassin in Europe.

Feels very dated now, and it's spoofing a genre of films which is even more old-fashioned (e.g. the 1938 Errol Flynn Robin Hood). How you feel about Danny Kaye's clowning, cross-talk routines and patter songs will also affect your response to this movie. Still, you have to admire Kaye's sheer dexterity as a performer, and there is still a touch of genius about routines like the chalice from the palace and the flagon with the dragon. He's well-supported too. Technicolour vaudeville in the end, but still very funny in places.
